Dont quote me on this, but I think that the VGA adapter comes with a little audio adapter that takes those red and white cables and makes them into a standard 'headphone like jack' (for lack of a better word).

Yep, the official MS cable does indeed have an adaptor (or at least it did when I last checked) that allows you to use your PC speakers or headphones.

No, your Xbox won't blow up, but doing what you propose will be a spectacular pain in the behind to do every time you want to switch games. Installing and deleting is going to take time (say 15-30 minutes to install each game). It's worth taking the time to install a game only if you're going to save time on stuff like loading screens. There's no other benefit really, unless your optical drive is old and loud (like mine). Believe me, spending 30 minutes installing a game to play for one day is not going to be worth saving five minutes of loading screens.

Also, only older games with long loading times (like Oblivion) are going to benefit from this. New games like Gears 2, Fallout 3 and even Halo 3 or COD4 aren't really going to benefit. So if you happen to have one older game that you play a lot, install it. Otherwise, don't. Oblivion will be the only game I install on my 20GB HDD. If I had the 120 GB I'd do more, but for now I think Oblivion is the only game I play a lot that will really benefit.

its free and you have to download it if you want to play on Xbox Live.

LittleToejam

I HAVE to download something that will take up 5g of the hard drive that I paid for, in order to play the games that I also paid for? If that's truely the case, then I guess I'm going to cancel my XBL and sell my crap on eBay.

wait if u download this it takes up some of your memory?!!?!?!

No, no, no guys. The update itself doesn't take up 5GB of your HDD. It takes up a small amount of the 6GB of dedicated space that you can't use anyway. You won't miss it because you don't have it. What the poster was talking about when he said it cost you 5GB of space is the space it takes to install games, which is completely optional.

Personally I'm really looking forward to this. There's much more to the NXE than just the installation option. As for installation, it probably will only be of benefit for older games with relatively long loading times. So for Oblivion, it will be a good thing (this is the only game I plan on installing), but for say Fallout 3, not so much.

So whats your way to fix broken xbox?

Incase you dont know this, there may be a easy way to fix RROD. I got 3 red ring and i fix it by holding the sync button and eject at the same time, then press eject 3 times.

Dont know what the symtom was but is fixed.

kenchen23

Don't forget to hold your breath, and turn around three times whilst tapping the top of your head with a pink umbrella when you're doing that.

Seriously, if the RRoD you are experiencing is caused by hardware failure (and it is in the vast majority of cases) the only way to get it fixed is to send it to MS.

Have you looked at the Support page on Xbox.com? They have a full rundown of the different errors and how to fix them. If you haven't already, check out this page. Your problem might be resolvable without returning the console to MS for repair.

For the record, I think you will probably make more money if you get the console repaired and then sell it. If you sell a broken console, you'll get less than $50 for it. If you spend $100 to repair it, then sell it, you'll get probably about $200. That's an extra $50, which almost pays for a game.

[QUOTE="chcknbopper"]

[QUOTE="s84"]That's strange. I just recently setup my Xbox Live silver account, and I was allowed to download the Mirror's Edge demo. Hmm... I'll have to try to play a couple of games online to see if this is really true. I'd be great if it's free. :)damaster101

You probably have the free 1 month gold membership that comes when you sign up for silver.

Thats awesome is that with all the newer xbox 360s, i need to buy an ethernet cable and try it out.

All Xbox 360s have come with a free month of Gold since launch day. It's just hard to find so a lot of people miss it.

All 360s, regardless of whether they are an Arcade, Premium or Elite, are exactly the same on the inside. They all have exactly the same software, hardware and upgradability. The only differences between all the packages are the upgrades (hard drive, etc) that come with them in the box.

If you take an Arcade and add a 60 GB HDD, you have a Premium. If you take either an Arcade or a Premium and add a 120 GB HDD, you basically have an Elite (albeit a white one).

You are wrong. Microsoft has never guaranteed 1000 points per game. They allow developers to put in Achievements worth up to 1000 points. There is no rule saying that developers have to use all 1000 points. In fact, some developers of early games (notably Condemned) deliberately had less than 1000 points so they could add some extra ones in with DLC. MS changed the rules so that developers could have up to an additional 250 points for DLC, so saving a few is no longer necessary and you don't see it any more.

Regardless, I think you are getting far too upset over this issue. We're talking about Achievement points here. They're nice to have as a little bonus as you play your games, but that's it. In the real world, achievement points are completely worthless. Considering that we're on the verge of a huge election in the US, the Middle East is in turmoil, the global economy is collapsing, the world's ecosystem is falling apart and there are still hundreds of millions of people dying of AIDS, starvation and cancer every single year, I think we all have better **** to be worried about than a few bloody achievement points.

And you also hate paragraphs, apparently.
