And yet the download version of the Shivering Isles expansion is still $30 in the Xbox Marketplace. It's the only thing I don't own for Oblivion. It should be about ten bucks these days.

I have no problem with a virtual currency as such. The problem I have is that 80 points equals a dollar. Yes, the math is easy for most people. But there's no NEED to do it, other than to obfuscate the true price of items. It's disingenuous on Microsoft's part, and it should have stopped years ago.

@ ihma; Read the article. The only difference between the standard version and the GS special edition is the inclusion of the controller. Do you want the limited controller? No? Then just buy the standard version and you'll get everything else. All the maps, all the game modes, the full campaign, everything. What the hell are you complaining about?

It's up to 24 hours. Up to. Last time they did this (which was a long time ago) they also said it would be up to 24 hours and it turned out to be just two. They're covering their asses in case something doesn't go as well as expected and the internet explodes with whiners griping about how XBL was down for 20 minutes longer than expected.

@TheArcade: You really think that Sony loses fifty grand on every PS3 sold? Let's do the math. They sold 10 million units last year. If they lost $50,000 on each one, then the PS division alone would have lost $500,000,000,000. That's five hundred billion dollars. You have no idea how much money that is. They actually lost only $1 billion, which was better than expected. You claim that they make up the loss on software, but think about that for a second. For PS3 to be profitable, every PS3 owner would have to buy more than $50,000 worth of games - and that's assuming 100% profit from each game, which obviously isn't true. Have you bought over fifty grand's worth of software recently? I'm no Sony fanboy - in fact I only own a 360 - so I really don't feel the need to defend them, but please get your facts right before you post.

Aaaaaaaand: Cue fanboy flame war! Seriously though, it's great that PS3 owners finally get a slice of the action. However, most of us are not going to buy it all over again just because of a few differences, Tecmo, so why don't you just offer 360 owners the tweaks via DLC?

QUOTE Calmed_Fury [p]why does the teaser say shepard was kia though? that would be ridiculous.[/p] [p] Throughout the trailer there are snippets from Shepard's service record, such as his notable actions and his known associates. At the end of the trailer there was a big red excerpt saying "STATUS: KILLED IN ACTION". Given that everything else refers to Shepard, why wouldn't the KIA notification also apply to him?[/p]

Well, I'm super excited for Mass Effect 2, but I can't believe that I have to wait until 2010 to play it! D'oh!. Maybe we can have some of that DLC that BioWare promised to keep us going in the meantime. Bringing Down the Sky was fun but short.

[QUOTE="Dan_Lionheart"]Mass Effect didn't need co-op. You know what happens when you put co-op in a game like Mass Effect? Fable II. Seriously though, not every game NEEDS multiplayer features. Fable II is the perfect example of a game that didn't, and because they tried to put it in, it was a horrible attempt at multiplayer.

Seriously. Some games are just better as single-player experiences. It lets the developer tell a specific story. Fallout 3, Mass Effect, Oblivion and HL are all classic examples. You couldn't have all of the big story elements if you had to factor in two players being in the same place at the same time. Don't get me wrong, some games are great with co-op, but there are some that should simply be played in solitude.

you can get 1080p through a component cable, do your research people I'd love to know where the misconception that they cant is coming from, some tv's are a bit spazzy with it admitidly but thats more likely the result of the tv maufactuer's not giving proper support in my opinion, HD tv is still a new thing in the mainstreampenpusher
That's easy: Most TV manufacturers assumed that anyone who wanted 1080p would also want (and be able) to use HDMI. The vast majority of devices that are capable of 1080p output also have HDMI ports. Therefore, they saved money on the component ports of their TVs by not making them 1080p capable if they also had HDMI ports. Unfortunately, the original Xbox 360s (including my own) are a glaring exception to this general rule - they are capable of 1080p output but don't have HDMI ports. It's a little frustrating, but it just means you have to buy a TV with which the manufacturer has decided not to save $5 with cheap 1080i component ports.
