LOL, the plot thickens. Actually it seems that the allgames website is the root of the confusion. I have both games and am currently busy sinking the Yamato with a Dauntless torpedo bomber. Please see the two game pages at City Interactive:

Combat Wings

Combat Wings: Battle of Britain

About the Stalin Subway, not sure I understand the intricacies of the Gamespot design but shouldn't the proper box cover appear as an icon everywhere, such as here?

I'm happy to see that some people fondly remember Brood War and Syndicate Wars, though the original Syndicate was even cooler I think. :)

Some other oldies I'd like to mention:

Throne of Darkness - Very stylish, sadly only the last part of the intro

Battle Zone

Dark Colony - This game has some truly creepy and grusome cutscenes

Alien Trilogy

Wing Commander 3 - Sorry, German only

Deadly Tide - Old and gold... :)

Great, thanks, but...

Combat Wings is not the same game as Combat Wings: Battle of Britain. The original Combat Wings takes place in the Pacific arena (as can be see on the image and via the support link).

About the Stalin Subway, the current image looks more like a logo than a boxshot, but if you say so. ;)

The game you describe is Machines.

I remember I spent some time looking for a retail copy back then but never did manage to dig one up. The demo was kind of lacklustre but there was something about the concept that kept the interest up.

I am a big fan of this genre too. Missing from the list are Boiling Point: Road to Hell and its upcoming sequel White Gold: War in Paradise, where you take on the role of a mercenary in a banana republic. I haven't tried out Just Cause yet so I am not sure if it fits the genre or not. Then there's the old Pirates of the Caribbean which I didn't like that much due to its console-style interface, but to each their own.

Shanghai Dragon is out already, in Chinese that is...

I picked it up in Shanghai (where else...) in 2004, but was never able to succesfully install it. Judging by the manual and the FMV I managed to run, it seemed highly derivative with a very limited set of enemies.

Ha ha, yes I am sorry to say that I remember it only too well. In fact it was so dire that I even felt the urge to write a review about it. They really messed up the gameplay with hopeless pathfinding and units so oblivious to their surroundings that even clickingthe enemy would notget them to attack, only luck would save the day. Then there were those tasteless cutscenes, how can one forget the stabbing of the little babysaurus for example...
