Such a not only clickbait title but a low order lie. The title should have read, "Download Rockstar's new launcher and get a free game...GTA: San Andreas for your troubles".

For me, it looks like Subnautica is going to be the pinnacle standout game that was to be your freebie on the platform at launch. Yeah, What remains of Edith Finch is good but not as good as Subnautica. And I see the trend now with less and less well-known games from Indie developers and 2D graphics. Maybe in 3 months they will throw something good back on the page and regain the interest of many. I plan on buying at least a game or two from them this year to show my appreciation.

This game and its themes still hold up really well even today. This is one of those timeless games that will never go out of style. The characters in the game are or will become iconic for you once you play it. It will leave a mark upon you, one way or the other.

@starjay009: You can't allow a customer a choice with a slogan ending with a question because many people will give a negative answer. So, to drive my point home, my answer to your question is, no. I don't want a Mad Box. Now, how is your marketing head going to feel about that if they used it? Right. You're fired.

@sparent180: "The system is still 2-3 years off..." and it very well might take at least 2 years to formalize a contract with a particular studio (in this case, Mad Dog Studios) for a franchise or other IP to be exclusive to their system. You have to also think that exclusive properties have been negotiated to stay on a particular platform for some time into the future to make sure that there is value in getting the exclusive in the first place. And to bolster that idea, whole studios are being acquired by Microsoft (especially) and Sony just to secure those rights in perpetuity.

If we don't hear any news, and soon, about Mad Dog trying to acquire some exclusive rights to an IP (by either license or purchase) and or making their own IP that is vastly more popular than "Cars, Version ?" I can only start to pace back and forth hoping the patient in the operating room survives. Otherwise, as we all agree now, that this is just suicide.

"...but I am curious what their hook is going to be." I thought that was self-evident by the story itself. They are touting vastly superior performance. As in 4k/60fps traditional game minimums. And 120fps virtual reality performance. "...equivalent to a very fast PC two years from now." Minimums mind you! That is going to take some decent tech to make that a reality, pardon the pun.

@tnielsen2010: "They already said they aren't going to try to do that, which I honestly think is a huge mistake." (Agreed)

"If a console isn't offering exclusive experiences then I have next to no incentive to shell out the cash." (Agreed)

"And trying (to) enter the console landscape without them seems like a death wish." (Agreed)

"I feel like both of my comments have come off kind of dickish, and that's definitely not my intention." (Disagree; your reply was perfectly cordial :)

@tnielsen2010: I can understand your taking umbrage with the exclusives thing. But my anecdotal experience is that people buy either the X-Box or Playstation exactly for that reason. One of them has an exclusive on it that they really want. I for one have done just this. Which is why I mentioned it. Maybe I should have been more specific about it?

Edit: In my mind at least, not having any exclusives for this device will almost certainly kill it sales wise. Just my opinion.

Making the claim that his "console" box will be the most powerful one out there means nothing. What is your price point? $700? $600? $500? You are encroaching on low-end PC territory here. Is that enough money to actually be SIGNIFICANTLY more powerful? And in 3 years time when the whole industry will have been uplifted by performance increases? Have you asked anyone if they would even buy your machine? At the moment, who cares what it looks like. Can you sell the damn thing? I can tell you that I won't be buying it even if it is more powerful. You have no ecosystem behind it. How are you going to negotiate for exclusives with no money left in the bank after development and marketing has drained your bank accounts dry and no one will loan you additional investment funding for game exclusives because Microsoft and Sony already corner the market and won't let you in?
