@BenjaminBanklin: i was looking forward to this on the Xbox since I really dig the art style and the pirate theme. And as an ex-mmo (wow) player with my mates, we were really hoping this would be good. I don’t mind wasting a little cash, but A little disappointed is all

From Australia here, playing using trial game pass on Xbox One S. I can’t find any opposing ships to shoot at, it’s just me and two of my other mates doing back and forth fetch quests earning coins for cosmetics lol. We’ve played for about 6 hours now, all agreed to take 2 days off work for this. Liked it when we first started, the art style and the water especially is amazing, but the boredom of repetitive loop is really starting to kick in. Considering the length of development, not even having to create their own engine, one would think there’s going to be plenty of jam packed content. But man we’re we wrong... the beta was pretty much all there was. This never got the No Man Sky level hype obviously, but im getting the exact same feeling with SOT as when I first played the vanilla NMS - just barren as hell and more expensive since I need to pay for Gold online. What the hell is happening to the Xbox? Plz MS announce some real AAA titles in E3.

@suicidesn0wman: People like to think whenever they release a game multiplat that a dev tend to make more Money. it's a little more complicated than that. Ask yourself the question, would do the same, take an exclusivity deal if you are running a gaming company that's trying survive to make a profit when you look at the demographic and sales of the Xbox? The console have barely sold in Japan, and it goes without saying that is where the Japanese game devs sell the most copies of their game. Then there is Asia (huge market for *** devs) and Europe, where Xbox sales have also been absymal. Where does Xbox sell most? North America. What percentage of the population would get into Japanese games? Answer is a tiny. The situation is not different to why MS Store have jack all apps, the developers budget can't risk resources to support another platform so they'd rather take a console exclusive deal for a safe bet. Gaming companies ain't non-profit charity, to create a game like Nier Automata requires a lot of time and money - not to mention that the first Nier didn't exactly sell like hotcakes. Yeah devs are passionate at what they do, but at the end of the day as employees they need to get paid to live, and as a business organisation it needs $$$ to support future projects. Boycotting them solely for the purpose of trying to force them to release it on an undesirable console is basically asking for them to suicide - it's unfair. MS and Phl Spencer are clearly trying to improve the Xbox brand awareness and image, and it would take awful lot of time, strategy and money for them to succeed enough to have regular Japanese games released on the console . In the meantime, as a consumer you are given a choice, you can always buy a PC or PS4 to play it. That way, there's mutual benefit for both the consumer and the developers.
