SMT:IV didn't come out this year...but I have played it again this year....and was also a major factor to buying a 3ds.

Stella Glow...that is my '15 game of the year. It's a new IP that just hits all the margins...tactical gameplay and epic world saving.

Stella Glow had an intriguing demo on the e-shop...I've got a copy waiting for me on Tuesday.

Shin Megami Tensei 4 has a follow-up in the works, provided it gets localized.

Dragon Quest 7 & 8 just got announced for localization.

I can only hope none of these need the *new* 3DS.

Bravely Default should be in the mix somewhere too....

so if you love RPGs, it's got plenty of life left.

oh~wow/

thanks for posting.

I don't know what to make of the gameplay, yet it seems to enter the fantastic.

Some of the cell-shading felt a bit obvious, yet overall it seems to be in a good ballpark.

I wonder what era/setting takes place...

I understand you like 2 of the guys at GS, but does that justify the more expensive purchases of the same game you can get at a lower price?

I've picked up a few new releases this fall/winter...$60 console/$40 handheld, it's all the same price across the board...and I go home with no shipping.

For older games, if I happen to be in the market (i.e. payday), I don't mind getting it right then and there. There are times I just want a new (used game, yet researched, oh I gotta get that one) game for a day off+

If there's a must have game from older-systems I'll look'em up on ebay...yet a couple-bucks difference isn't enough to wave the shipping/waiting charge.

Gamestop is only evil when trying to /sell/ them games.

I've made my post, i'd rather watch Dr Who, over participating further.

I thought this was about videogames, yet on the contrary; anything can be a game.

I like to window shop (ebay), and sometimes I like to talk shop...I've made the acquaintance of 2 of the employees at my local gamestop...and it's a solid feeling of community when I go in there.

I go to e-bay when I want games from PS-2 or older, otherwise, I like to peruse the used PS3/DS+ etc section, or buy new at Gamestop.

I hate buying a game at a checkout line at another retailer...they don't give a shit that I'm excited to buy the game...

It's funny how I read this thread before as a hype thread, now it is merged, and it's a "stinks" thread. Wh'ev.

I'm 8-hours+ in and just realizing how the war-table is the centerpiece.

Yea, the controls can be clunky with keyboard/mouse, and yea the battles can be a matter of holding the mouse-clicked while pressing "4" or "2", yet this game still delivers.

It delivers a sense of exploration & color unlike most games in the past couple years. The party factor adds a great layer of variety, and there are choices that feel like they lead somewhere. I wish the gear was more diverse or at least accessible at earlier levels, yet the game is just starting to spell out it's main-pace. So far I've had no regrets. It definitely plays more real-time than strategy however. The battles haven't been challenging yet, yet maybe I'm just enjoying this game as a tourist; rather than a combatant.

Either way, there won't be anything else like it till at least mid-winter. A solid open-map fantasy game in my book.

...too many paragraphs for the cause. I've skimmed the thread earlier, and my base description, adopted the notion of /rules/.

My imbibed quick response is: an objective layout with direct rules/conditions to overcome. /overcome/ might just be a key word. Sometimes the rules regulate the process, while sometimes a narrative drives the goal. Either-way a clear victory is on the table...even if it may be long-winded.

To overcome conditioned-objectives via circumstance...is the short-hand version of my 2-cents.

...edit: this does exclude the joy of exploration/discovery that say, an RPG might present...which is, IMO, a proper derivative of videogames.

(!, Blender)

Cycles is made for Nvidia

It's like x12 faster...

Internal rendering, and most anything else will remain the same...on-screen adjustments/work flow are the same.

I just got a GTX-660 (my entry-point to Nvidia/Cuda/GPU-processing) and the results are a joy to work with...yet rendering is the sole pay-off.

If we're talking future: I don't even care about the Witcher, or Star Citizen; CyberPunk 2077 is what it is.

Meanwhile, Beyond Earth and Dreamfall are PC games that I'm logging out for.
