Okay, no offense, but "Harry Potter" has NO literary value.
With that in mind, some personal favorites for literature/with literary value include (authors in parentheses) For Whom the Bell Tolls (Hemingway), The Grapes of Wrath (Steinbeck), Blood Meridian (McCarthy), Heart of Darkness (Conrad), The Lord of the Rings (Tolkein), No Country for Old Men (McCarthy), The Count of Monte Cristo (Dumas), A Light in August (Faulkner), The Iliad (Homer), The Odyssey (Homer), and To Have and Have Not (Hemingway).I could list more, but those should keep you occuppied for a while.
Some books that I read just for fun (not really literature): the Discworld series (Pratchett), The Dark Tower series (King), A Song of Ice and Fire series (Martin), and just about anything by David Baldacci.
Hope that helps.
Harry Potter definitely has literary value. Those books you read for fun are legit too. I won't debate with you on it. Most of the other books you recommended are terribly boring (or I've already read in school). Thanks though.
