@Sushiglutton: Contrarily, it is their profession and the do have a team of people (I would hope more than 1000 people worked on this but I hear theirs is a small team) that are payed substantially well to do so. As they have the know how, which 98% or more of these "vultures" do not. They also had a decade or close enough it makes no matter. Strange though that most of that decade was spent without the new consoles and latest pc hardware while those are the only devices that can run them smoothly or close enough at this point.
You are right though. These games cannot be easy to make. Devs are not at fault here the publisher is for putting it out too soon in spite the delays.
@Berserk8989: Hype is not generated by marketing (well kinda). If they did their job right, the media hypes and the masses buy into it. That's how that works so you know. I for one did not believe this would be the holy grail of all video games as this site and all others were hyping it to be. Those guys just showed their game and we all climaxed the pants. Not their fault there is it??? At the end of the day its a fallout clone...just that nothing more. Only difference their world is alive.
Play it on a series X or ps5 (the only platforms aside from high end pcs that realize their vision for what they wanted the game to be) and you would see this game is far from average.
I watched the 48 min clip they made like 4 years ago and to be honest not much has changed. Besides that, did you see the big red banner at the top of that clip? In red it says this is a pre alpha demo and is subject to change. I'd say they covered their bases there. Your witch hunt ends there.
Their only fault is not delaying it again. Would this even be in discussion if the game was polished and optimized on all platforms? No I think not. I think we would be talking about how this game is good actually. I love fallout but i tire of exploring dead worlds in open world games again and again. This actually is new and refreshing. A fallout game with vehicles? Come on who doesn't like that seriously?
This company couldn't handle the hype you all created for this game (hyped to biblical proportions for no damn reason at all). They delayed the game so many times that they could easily have delayed until the game was at least playable on all the platforms they released it on. Yes it would have sucked the big one but so does losing a billion dollars for your company. Corpo (yes I went there) greed seemed to be the driving force here. Funny how usually it doesn't come back and bite them hard but this time is it ever. Never has a publisher been so savagely set upon on all sides...and rightly so.
Contrarily, I am currently playing it on my series x and it plays quite well and what I've played is a good game. The odd bug but after playing years of Fallout and Elder Scroll games they make me laugh more than bother me. My personal favorite of the ones I've seen is the one on the motorcycle with brief flashes of the pantsless man doing the Titanic pose on top of it (what sort of programming error would even allow that???)
@thecupidstunts: There is no doubt they could have done this better. There was a time when MC was talking about games that may be exclusive to the Box one X. PS could likely have done the same with the pro. Let me tell ya, this should have been one of those games. Devs are in a tight spot. Releases currently still go across ALL platforms. Well where once there was only one set of consoles, now games must work efficiently on 3 different sets(xbox one/ps4, xbox1x/ps4pro, and SeriesXS/PS5). One look at how the game plays on the Series X or PS5 and you would know for this game that's hardly possible on consoles that can barely do the 4k thing. I play on a series x so the game plays very well and is a good game for it. Didn't know it was quite so bad on the low end consoles but it makes sense. Also didn't know sony pulled it...yikes.
So delay the game again? Til after the holidays maybe? Sure but for what? They're not going to be able to make a game like this on the low end consoles without cutting away some of the game. Patch like that could be months away. But they had to release, it was getting out of hand. Game was delayed half a hundred times.
That was simply a case of a dev that couldn't handle their own hype.
Games are delayed for a myriad of reasons (I am sure I don't know them all) but when a game is delayed 4-6 weeks before launch it is usually because the testers found a bug that breaks the game. Well, got news for you nitpicky reviewers who have been just short of criminal here, this happened a few times for this game. It's not as though CDPR or anyone ever tried to make a game this dense (many games may be larger but none are even close to the population density of cyberpunk not even remotely). This game is fallout but the world didn't end yet it's just missing a few mechanics (settlement building, more weapon modifying etc). Newsflash, those games are all buggy as hell and those people have been making those kind of games for decades. All those games but one (the garbage they named Fallout 76) got 9s and 10s/10 buggy as they were...but not this one for whatever reason...
I'd say this is good for a first try and given their previous games and the way they supported them, this game will only get more and more polished in the next couple months. The negative attention this game is getting astounds me. Also this sort of negative attention causes good developers to stop trying to push the envelope and what results is what we have now...a few good games and A MILLION STUPID DAMN BATTLE ROYAL TEAM SHOOTERS THAT ARE ALL THE FREAKIN SAME. Review bomb those turkeys. Not this.
Ah they'll be bought and all this will be put behind them. I personally don't really know what the expectations were as far as the game's release. The masses really expected the most polished game in existence? The game was hyped yes...to biblical proportions...yes I agree. But let them release the game, grab their cash, and fix it in due time. They do excellent work and honestly many of the reviews of this game were unjustified. Bethesda makes buggy games all the time (find me a bugless elder scrolls game I DARE YOU) and reviewers don't even bat an eyelash just solid 9s and 10s. Take the bugs away from Cyberpunk and Fallout 4 and they're essentially the same thing just different story and setting. Huge sandbox, a long winding main mission, several hundred side quests, lots of weapons, crafting etc. How is one the salt of the earth and the other gets reviewed into the dirt?
7/10 is low. I've played for days now and bugs and problems in all I'd give it a solid 8 even a 9/10.
