Among a lot of the dissatisfaction each of Tom's reviews seems to create, I'd like to take a moment to appreciate Tom's reviews. It feels like reviewers are too often willing to hand out 9s to every game they can play without cursing the game at one point or another. Tom seems to recognize that even games that are pretty good aren't inherently 9 worthy and that it takes something truly special to warrant the higher game review scores. I appreciate Tom's reviews because if he gives a game a 9 or a 10, I know that it will actually be an absolutely phenomenal experience, one that might even transcend my own tastes or preferences. Game reviewers are so generous with 9s these days that its hard to tell what I am actually going to enjoy, and what's just passable to me. So thank you Tom for making those high review scores special and bringing meaning back to a muddled, blurry rating system. It's just a shame that other people don't seem to feel the same way.
Thanks for the shout out! I don't mind too much and I certainly don't want to come off as rude, but I did spend a lot of time on it so I was a little confused. I'm happy knowing you all enjoyed looking through our entries!
Holy cow, my hours of painting weren't even among the honorable mentions. That's a little bit disappointing. Did I not submit in time? I thought the deadline was 12pm pacific...
I don't think a lot of people here even want to understand that it's an entirely new handheld sometimes. They just ignore... and ignore... and ignore. It isn't going to be a simply rehash with a few new features, this is something entirely new. Why would it be backwards compatible if it was just a rehash of that software. Until E3 we won't know what to expect as far as features but expect that it won't be the same thing with a tag pinned on it saying "new". This really is something diffrent so stop disreguarding that. I've heard it a few times before, the 3D isn't just going to be a gimmick, it will be an innovation. If they are dedicating an entirely new handheld to it, this can't be that bad.
After my observance it would appear the PS3 tends to have slightly less grainy textures. The PS3 also seems a little... darker? imo the PS3 seems to have a bit of an advantage but all in all you can hardly notice. MW2 wasn't a very good comparison though because I feel the graphics on that game were too rushed to be much. In all honesty COD5 was a much better example. But in all the other games where the graphics were much more pushed I felt that the PS3 was slightly more successful. idk though because I'm not really a huge graphic nazi.
Games have the possibilty to tell great stories but they just can't be near as broad as some stories. Like games can't include an immense amount of some elements such as romance and comedy without twisting up the gameplay. I'm not saying that it's not possible to include some of it but in truth if you want a great balance you will have to restrict some story. I thought that this was a really interesting feature though because it's true. There is some question about stories in video games. Nice work GS. ;)
It sounds and looks so cool but I'm afraid of many things you people have mentioned. My primary concern is that it won't work as well as it seems. It might be a... failure. But on the brighter side, if it isn't, I'm SOOOOOOO getting it for my PC.
Yes I'm a Nintendo fanboy. So when it comes to comparing this stuff I'm fresh out of the oven. I have no prefrence for either system nor have I really owned either one. However after carefully comparing I'm going to have to say that just by a pinch the 360 wins. They are both excellent and it hardly matters when it comes to playing the game. But I'll have to say the 360 wins. I'm sorry PS3 owners and frankly the PS3 is still very good. If it makes you feel any better, the PS3 just kills the Wii in graphics. But overall being a Nintendo lover it has brung me to realize one thing. It's not the graphics that matter but the gameplay. That brings up a totally diffrent question that may be more important then a pinch of better graphics, what system has the better games? ;)
