@Martyr77 Yeah. Just like how the original Sonic was just Super Mario with more speed, or how Halo was just Goldeneye in a sci-fi setting, or how Gears of War was just Killswitch with better environments, better cover mechanics, graphics, etc
Just because a game has a few similiar traits does not mean it's the same exact thing and doesnt mean it cannot be a game that does a lot of things it set out to do, better than games of the same genre. each individual idea by itself may not be a particularly fresh or new with all the mechs, free running etc. But no game at this point has done anything that hasn't been done before.
It's the combination of ideas + how well they all mix together and whether or not the game has done said ideas better than what other similiar games have done. Added in the fact i've grown tired of Call of Duty and the military fps genre very VERY quickly, this game is fantastic and it definitely set the new standard for arcade-style mp games from here on out. There is not one game within at least the past 10 years that has done anything that hasn't been done before.
Titanfall may not be 100% original but it has set a new, slightly higher standard for the fps genre. Which is exactly why it's getting so many overwhelmingly positive reviews.
Damn awesome game. I honestly thought this'd just be call of duty with mecs, but glad i was proven wrong. imho the game feels pretty fresh in a genre that i had felt was getting stale for a few years now.
I wholeheartedly agree with the 9/10 review though, game's not perfect but pretty damn fantastic and addicting as hell to top it all off.
@DarkSaber2k They had to recreate nearly everything from scratch. They couldn't use too much of the originol Bioshock assets because they were mostly rubble and destroyed peices. In the Burial at Sea dlc, they wanted to make a pre-civil war rapture, where everything was still intact.
i'm extremely disappointed that they are going to have regenerating health - or at least some type of form of it, and now medkits are essentially useless.
"The Call of Duty franchise continues to set the bar for innovation and we expect the new Call of Duty game in development for 2013 to raise that bar even higher,"
I facepalmed so hard that my face merged with my hand
