Prey is an excellent modern FPS with enough puzzles to work out, baddies to zap etc before leading to a superb crescendo. I've just completed Half-Life 2 Ep 2 which is great: very demanding stuff. Far Cry was excellent too.

Having watched the trailer for Red Orchestra, I was wondering whether there's a PC demo of it around anywhere?  The official site for the game doesn't mention one so is it in the pipeline and when will the full version be released?  It looks pretty good.

I've been reading some of the comments about the HIV demo on here and other places and thought I'd give it a bash.

Well, it's not great but it's not bad either. Someone mentioned that there are issues with the enemy AI including that they're invincible if they're reloading or throwing a grenade and that you can be killed through walls. I found both of these to be true. I'm not sure when it's going to be fully released but these issues need to be addressed by the developers before it is otherwise it'll get a real slagging.

That said the actual environments are well-designed, although I'd prefer a Call Of Duty-style integrated compass and next objective thing to give you a better idea of where to head for next. Did anyone else notice how few items can be used with the Action key (F) in the demo and that jumping onto the collapsed rubble in order to access the upper floors in the final bit is harder than it looks? Stand too close to the edge of the 'ramp' and he hardly jumps at all!

Overall about 6 out of 10, although I fancy playing the full version.

Ps I've no idea why there aren't any Korean War-based FPSs but then I've yet to find a Falklands War-based one either!
