@Rie_BooM Exactly! And I'm sure you are not alone. Lots of people have the same reason as you do for wanting a 2DS. They are looking to expand their market share, appealing both to tight budget individuals and gamers who don't care for 3D visuals, and these two segments overlap, as is your case.
Also, it's not like the 2DS is superseding the 3DS. It's just another choice, and having choices is always good. If you don't like the 2DS, but want in on the experience, there's the original 3DS, or the XL if that's your cup of tea. That's the main rationale behind the 2DS. But it will also provide them with valuable information about the state of the market, so they can make the right choices for the next handheld, while pleasing the largest amount of people.

I think that Nintendo is playing a moderate gamble with the 2DS. They are now offering a cheaper, 2D alternative to the 3DS, and in a different form factor, and with this, they expect to see how the market behaves. The 3DS has been wildly popular, and an unabated success since the price cut back in 2011. If the 2DS manages to outsell the 3DS, that would be proof enough that the 3D screen is unnecesary, and something players don't actually see as a selling point (I for one enjoy 3D a lot). if so, they will ditch the 3D gimmick and focus on other features for their next handheld. On the other hand, if the 3DS keeps its momentum, and the 2DS flops in the market, they will be reassured that they made the right choices, and keep pushing 3D technology on their handhelds, and maybe on their home consoles as well.

Well, in response to all the replies, that was my afterthought. The show is utter nonsensical fun, and this mishmash of disparate things only adds up to it.

I really don't understand the aesthetics of this show. It's called "Feedbackula", a portmanteau of "Feedback" and "Dracula", but I don't have to tell you that. Now, none of those things have anything to do with either the mexican Día de Muertos theme, or the british guy acting as host. I'm not saying it's bad, because it's actually very funny. I'm saying it doesn't make any sense.

Well, things could not be better for me if this proves to be true. I've been holding off on buying a WiiU until the release of Wind Waker HD, so this bundle is just what I need. And maybe it would be a limited edition console with a Zelda theme as well.
I did the same with the 3DS. I knew a Zelda themed console would be coming, and bundled with Ocarina of Time 3D, so I waited and it happened, and then I bought it. In this case, though, regardless of whether the bundle rumor is true, I'm still getting a WiiU in October, along with WWHD.

This game is what Sonic Team came up with after they played Super Mario Galaxy. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, since SMG is one of the best games ever, and the 3D Sonic games have been mediocre at best so far. Maybe this will be the boost that Sonic needs to regain some of the cred it lost after so many terrible games in the last decade.

I fully expected to see the Super Smash Bros. saga ending sequences. SSB for N64 was the very first interactive credits roll I ever saw, and that must count for something!

Saying that Nintendo does not innovate, and sustain that argument comparing it to Sony is just plain moronic. It's true that many great games didn't use the DS's touch screen at all (like Megaman ZX or the last two Castlevanias), the ones that truly stood out were the ones that used it in INNOVATIVE ways, like Kirby Canvas Curse, both Zeldas, TWEWY, WarioWare Touched!, and a very long etcetera. It is because of Nintendo and the DS that the Vita has a touch screen in the first place. It wouldn't had been like that had Nintendo not proven the huge potential of the technology. Same goes for the PS Move. It is a direct rip-off of the Wii's control scheme. The 3DS is an incremental step for the DS family, just like the GBA was for the GameBoy. The DS changed everything, and probably the 3DS successor will do that as well, but for now, the huge sales numbers of the 3DS during the holiday season, versus the shameful sales of the PS Vita in Japan are the most indisputable proof that Nintendo is doing it right, and Sony is doing it wrong.
