I seriously dont understand why this game is getting low scores.
If its similar to CIV 5? is that a bad thing? CIV 5 for me is one of the best 4X game in modern times.
Instead of tried and tested linear path now we have to discover the tech tree and it gives so many options to how we can customize our troops.
Yes playing with historical personalities was fun, but this game is not about what is known, but what will going to happen in future. Instead of researching Pottery and Archery, we are looking at GENE BANKS, MECHATRONICS and all sorts of crazy combinations.
Quest system and choices are great.
Covert OPS is much better then previous CIVs.
Alien life forms are fun and varied unlike Barbarians.
I know it is light on content but we all know that will be fixed in due time ike all CIVs before it.
My only gripe is with the UI. Coming from CIV 5, CIV BE has a very unfriendly UI with loads of information not presented clearly.
Don Bradman is Australian and like a huge legend. He used to score 100 runs in almost all innings he has ever played. Its like touchdown in every football game, or like scoring a goal in every soccer (true football) game.
5 is a little generous. It is way more obscure and stupid for a newcomers. 3/10 is just about right.
For me I rate it as best RPG genre has to offer, because I have plenty of time to waste and it has resemblance to old platformers trial and error based gameplay which I love.
But that doesn't mean DS is for everyone. It is for a very specific crowd which doesn't care about story, art or graphics.
Challenge is another misinformation about the game. Game is not challenging as something like DOTA. WHat it does is, it punishes you really hard for little mistakes. Most of the enemies behave in similar patterns and after two or three runs through particular area they are not even a challenge.
It is understandable that when you have no plot or pretty graphics to look at, why would I push forward?
