I support this argument. We all tend to get weird about it. I love the idea of just playing what you play. The worst part about the "hardcore" argument is when people tell others their opinion has no value because they didn't play the original... whatever version of whatever game and therefore don't know what they're talking about.dude... i don't care.
people play what they play why do you guys gotta get all weird about shyt?

So if if i buy and play the Sims as an hobby and go to it's wiki sometimes, I'm an hardcore gamer? Good to know.Lumpy311Yes. Why not? If you play it enough, or love it enough to defend it, then yeah... you're hardcore. But there was more to the definition, such as trying other games, and pioneering through the broad gaming universe. But I think if you have an account on a gaming website that you check several times a week, and know what is happening with games... and just generally love the medium then you probably are. I like the idea of a broad landscape.
In a recent article danny defined hardcore as:
Us, those who go to websites and study and learn about games in their free time, as a hobby, while also buying from a wider expanse of games. They try more variety and buy dozens of games per year and are the first to experience what is new in gaming while others follow in our wake.

I have to say I agree.
I don't think COD removes Hardcore status, or that ARMA grants it.

Most that try to define "hardcore" do so to remove others with a different opinion from the argument.

A love of gaming makes you hardcore.
I don't really like PC gaming anymore, but if a movie-snob was critizing me and a hermit for playing games I'm pretty sure we would join forces to defend our artform.
I should have been on the track to buy a XBOX One without hesitation, but Microsoft helped me see the error of my ways.
Now... I don't know.
PS4 is still Sony, and that means all the same dumb decisions could happen again.
Xbox did itself in, without any help.

I've decided to buy every game I ever wanted to play this generation when they are dirt cheap and make my next gen decision next year.
3.5 million units sold?
I guess we now have an exact number on how many Nintendo Fanboys are in the world.
Price Not The Problem?
He's right, I don't care how much something I don't want costs.
I still don't want it.
Are you saying "True gamers" are immature and unrealistic? What does maturity and reality have to do with WiiU sales?[QUOTE="fadersdream"]
People use numbers and facts because they're anti-nintendo fanboys.
True gamers base they're expectations on hope, and luck.

At the end of the xbox/PS2 era games were very stuffy.
When Gears of War came out for 360 it was very different, the "uncultured" quality, testosterone and bro-friendly attitude was excicting and different.
Reminder of how entertaining explosions could be.

As much as Heavy Rain is artistic, it's also just more of the same desperate-to-seem-deep faux class that was building last gen. Halo is just as guilty though.
