Best Games I Have Ever Played

These are the games that I had the most fun playing. They might not be the "best" games in terms of score, ground-breaking, or even popular thinking, but they are the reasons why I continue to play video games. Also, I haven't played every video game out there, so this is based on my personal play history. This list is unfinished and in no particular order...

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

The addition of a few new objectives brought some much needed freshness to the game. It's also easier to travel to other towns (though still difficult).

Blur

Online multiplayer racing with friends is a blast

Disney's Aladdin (1993)

A great platformer. that I have played game several times, and even hauled my SNES out of storage to play. It's short enough to play in an afternoon. My fastest run through is 45 minutes. The Genesis version is just as good.

Hydro Thunder Hurricane

Great remake of an old game with some new tracks, boats, power ups, and graphics. Still has that great arcade feel even on a console. Plus, online multiplayer!

Katamari Damacy

It's hard to explain this game to others and why it is fun. It's something you just have to experience. It's weird, it's corny, it's fun. Try it! You'll be humming the theme song before you know it. Katamari Damacy 2 is basically the same game but offers 2 player co-op and competitive. I don't know if it's just because I played Katamari Damacy first or not, but I think the original is the better game of the two.

Nanostray

Side scrolling shoot 'em up (shmup) for the DS. The difficulty was set to a reasonable (though still quite difficult!) level. This was the first game where I realized this type of game was actually its own genre: shmups. I have been playing shmups for years but never new they were a thing.

Pokemon X / Y

The best iteration of Pokemon I have ever played. I loved Yellow. Silver was fun, but was basically Yellow. Platinum was disappointing that it wasn't more innovative or have battle animations. I skipped Black/White. Pokemon XY does everything right. Playing online with friends is easy. Making new friends is (fairly) easy. Trading is simple. Battling is fun. Collecting Pokemon doesn't feel like grinding nearly as much as in previous versions. If you are new to Pokemon, or feel nostalgic toward Yellow or Silver, get XY. You'll love it.

Pure

This racing game is just a blast to play. Also, the first game I played online multiplayer. Hey, I wasn't as bad as I thought I was going to be!

Shoot Many Robots

Side-scrolling shooter? Continuous waves of enemies until you die? Local AND online co-op multiplayer? Yes. Yes. Yes!
