Nah, R2's not that generic or boring, I enjoyed the action and set pieces for the most part. The ending was awesome, it just seemed like they came up with the ending first and built around that. The narrative was very disjointed and not very good. I didn't care about any of the characters or what was going on but the basic mechanics were fun.

The multi and co-op are different and cool, but I didn't get addicted to either, like some others have. Horde mode was better imo.

This thread is gonna be rather large and ugly, I have a feeling.

Gotta love controversy. Or not. That is what the "editors" were going for though - so cheers to their "success". I'm not gonna bash MGS4 as it was a fantastic game in all regards. I am going to bash Gamespot though, this site is a tiny little shadow of it's former self. Greg Kasavin must be rolling over in his grave.

I can live with the results of this graphics award in question (and at the end of the day, who gives a ****), but why wasn't Gears 2 even nominated? It was, far and away, the best looking 360 game this year and yet we get the functional, but nowhere near impressive, Burnout nominated??? Really? Alright...time to move on to greener internet gaming website pastures, I guess...

Hmm, maybe Ninja Gaiden 2.  I can't argue with it's score because of all the bugs, but as far as fun gameplay and intense challenge - its about as good as it gets. 

Also Lost Odyssey was massively underrated and really well done.  Same with Wipeout HD. 

Gears 2 Horde = Resistance 2's co-op  (they are both undeniably excellent, and something a little different)

Gears 2 multi < Resistance 2's large multi(opinion, but the bigger player count matches when played right are awesome)

Gears 2 campaign >>>>>  Resistance 2's campaign (didn't see this coming, but Gears 2 is exactly how you do an epic sequel)

yeah, kind of agree with this.  i played halo 2 online everyday way back when.  but i was more into the campaign for halo 3 oddly enough - 4 player co-op had a lot to do with that this time around, and the level design and challenge is superbly tuned imo.   loved the gameplay, but there's constantly other things to play this gen, as opposed to halo 2's time period on original xbox.

and i still do.  that part almost ruined snake's epic crawl through the microwaves for me.  ugh.  so not necessary at all other than to set up the wedding.  

the gears moment did seem a tad out of place.  my initial reaction was mostly shock as i didn't predict a certain character's action to end that moment.

I own a PS3. I've beaten MGS4. Three times. I don't hate it or Sony. I am not a lemming. MGS4 is a bit overrated. Great game. Not a 10.

Gears 2 was every bit as fun as MGS4 was for me and not overrated at all.

GTA4 would be my answer. Haven't gone back to really play it since June

But I really liked the game.  Alot.  I'm just saying it wasn't perfection.   

On a side note, shame about it's multiplayer.  That is a game begging for longevity and it was let down by Konami's dumb online setup
