thanks, glad to help. Hopefully you will be enjoying this game before too long. It's one of the best First Person Shooters of all time. Also, tell your mom it's not morally ambiguous or anything. You play as "the good guys" and its not like your running around like a criminal or something killing cops. You are a soldier tasked with protecting innocent civilians and it's all done in a really thoughtful and interesting way. It's the same with the WW2 versions of the game. You play as the Allies fighting against Nazi's. Good and evil is pretty clear cut in such scenarios.
cod4 is along the lines of a james bond movie or a splinter cell game or something. also Band of Brothers. Personally, I would say it's around a pg-13 movie or so. I would say 15 is about the earliest a kid should play a game like COD4. As long as a kid is in high school and well rounded, then it's probably alright. As others have said, the worst part is the online community. Once in a while I get on with a 12 year old or something....and imo, that's just too young to hear college kids talking really explicit and vulgur. I don't mind the occasional curse word or F this or F that....but it's a bit creepy when there is a ten year old on there and exposed to that and someone is explicitly describing raping someone's arse out or something...lol
anyways, if i had a 14 or 15 year old, I would probably let them play something like COD series. I wouldn't let a kid play GTA series untill they were around a senior in high school or so.
anime, a lot of people don;t realize this, but if you change your zone to "recreational" instead of underground, you end up getting paired with a lot of cooler people, and are much less prone to loudmouth morons shouting **** this and **** that. the competition is just as good if not better. It seems to me underground is more the realm of 13 year old Halo players that think they are l33t underground players one step away from professional gaming lol. Anyways, try switching to recreational if you like playing with cool people who use teamwork. Also, the game your and the time makes a huge difference. If your playing Halo at 4:30pm right after school.....you are more likely to get a lot of trash talking babies, but if you log on at 10pm and play R6 VEgas2, you're more likely to get cooler players who enjoy teamwork.
another tip is just to mute someone immediately if they start acting like a fool. this saves a lot of grief. At the first hint of some fool talking nonsense to me or someone else, I just go ahead and say..."Ok, I'm gonna mute "player x" and then just mute them and don't worry about them ever again.
dude, just because your x360 hasn't died doesn't mean there isn;t a problem. Your thinking is totally narrow minded and backward. The failure rate of the 360;s is an empirical fact. Myself, I'm on number 3 in a little over a year. as far as how I treat them, it's impecable,. I have a $400 open air component shelve and the consoles have total airflow and do not budge an inch. Anyways, the reason for the RROD has since been fixed beginning with the Elites and now any new x360 the high RROD rate has been fixed. The problem had absolutely nothing to do with user error and everything to do with a design flaw. What was happening is that the gpu heatsink was not sufficient and it caused the motherboard to warp at an unnacceptably high rate.. As mentioned this has been remedied since last fall.
anyways, your experience means something, but its unbelievably nearsighted to apply your extremely limited experience (1 x360 out of 10 million or so) and then conclude that since yours never failed and you treat it properly.....then those who get the RROD are dumbasses that don't know how to handle electronic components.
my vote would go to Bioshock~! I've been gaming since Atari and it's one of the best I've ever played. I wouldn't be disapointed if COD4 or Halo3 won GOTY though..... both were extraordinary games.
honarable mention goes to Orange Box, Forza, and Mass Effect. I liked Creed, but imo, it's not the same caliber of any of the titlesi mention above.
imo, a good space combat sim, like Rogue Squadron or Descent or Xwing vs Tie... basically, the game i would most want for x360 would be a Star Wars space combat game and a great one. I think you could have absolutely stunning graphics, great physics, great gameplay. I wouldn't mind if it also took the role of an exploration RPG, but first and foremost, it would need to be a great space sim. I would love a next gen Rogue Squadron... you could have absolutely brilliant online combat as well.
a high production value BattleStar Galactica flight sim would also be really cool. not sure what that xbox arcade title will be, but it's likely not what i'm looking for.
