@Lulu_Lulu: What made Beyond so frustrating was mainly the controls - I found them to be simply hideous. They were overly clunky, obtrusive, and slowed the pacing of the combat and overall game a lot. But I also found the story to be frustrating - for every interesting or exciting part, there were usually double the amount of nonsensical or just plain stupid sections to trudge through.

@turtlethetaffer@speedfreak48t5p: Because I genuinely felt it did. I've been a huge Dead Space fan since the 1st game. I know a lot of people didn't like 3, and I've heard the reasons why, and frankly, THERE'S your trollfest for you. Most everyone's complaints boiled down to 1) I'm not going to like this game because there's micro transactions in it; EA is bad and evil, so I'm going to boycott it. Yes, we all know EA has some shady policies/tactics, but if anyone in this boycott group actually read a full article on how the micro transactions were implemented, they would have seen that it wasn't done in an invasive or underhanded way. You can only purchase items from upgrade stations, which are only available every so often, so the buy screen is definitely not in your face all the time like in some games. But even more important, you can EASILY find good circuit upgrades right from the start of the game, and EASILY gather ration seals in game, which can actually be redeemed to get extra resources for free. On my 1st playthrough, I honestly went the whole game without needing to "purchase" a single thing, and beat it on Hard.

2) Dead Space 3 is crap because unlike 1 and 2, it's not "true horror" any more. That is also completely bogus. This gripe mainly surfaced due to combat sections where you are shooting against humans instead of necromorphs. But it was blown way out of proportion. The fact is that there are only 1-2 small parts where this happens, and it ties right into the story/doesn't feel forced. People also complained about being able to crouch and/or take cover for the 1st time. They were wasting their breath. Again, I went the whole game without needing to use either function even once.

But beyond all that, I found 3 to be the scariest in the series so far. Unlike 1 and 2, you also frequently need to make sure you don't freeze to death, when you're on the ice planet. There's an actual timer that shows how little time you have to get from point a to b before you simply keel over. On top of that, often during these same sections, you'll have to deal with poor visibility due to snowstorms and Necromorphs hiding in the ice underground, not knowing when or where they'll pop up. The other main aspect I feel instills more horror in 3 than the others is the addition of pure survival mode, where you can't find hardly any essential gear/health items, and must craft almost everything yourself.

In the end, I feel that all the hate on DS3 is completely misplaced, that tons of people missed out on a genuinely scary game, with tense minute to minute gameplay, a taut story, and simply the best crafting system I have ever seen in any game. Hands down. And all because gamers too often ride the bandwagon, and take rumor as truth.

Was just checking out my stacks to see if everything from all of my game lists transferred over properly and quickly noticed my entire tracked list is simply gone!!? I put dozens and dozens of hours into making and managing that list and it has nearly 200 games in it!! My 2 other lists - collection and wanted games - are still visible. But would someone please tell me what happened to my tracked list/why there isn't a stack present for it, or better yet, that a fix is in the works. Thank you!

Big k&l fan myself too (lynch is prob my all-time fav game character. Yea, i prefer 'em flawed and psycho). I also prefer Dead Men, only 4 the better story. Love Dog Days' improved controls, unique art style and multiplayer modes. Sure hope they do a third one; the 2nd was such a cliffhanger.

Thanks for the input so far. I have heard a lot of good things about newegg before. Will def check it out. About how long would one of these cards last me before I would need to get a new laptop? (heard the hardware can't be upgraded on them)

Hey All,

I am new to PC gaming so please bare with me. I have a HP Pentium D desktop with just the stock factory video card in it (so I assume it would be more cost effective to replace the whole thing to be able to play new(er) games on it. And I am more in need of a laptop (my 1st). So, what is a good baseline, say model numbers-wise, for NVidia or Ati cards to go by when it comes to a video card that would smoothly play games from '07 on?? Also, just since the brick and mortar stores carry so many of them, should I even be considering an Intel-made card? Finally, anyone have any recommendations as far as a good gaming laptop for a G or less?

Thanks!

My last comment was in reply to Oleg's (Super Bagman)'s suggestion. But yea (blackngold29) I did play the whole season. Some weeks I played one or two games a day; other weeks, a few total. I could have simiulated any of them but I wanted my stats for the player I created for myself to be, you know, real and true. It payed off as the season came to an end, believe me, but didn't do much to curb the frustration I still feel from not being able to put the icing on the cake.
