They need to release before Dec 25. They need to start making up al of the $60+ million they spent on the game. The only way to do that is to have the release before Christmas.
Just found this
"Sharkey says: ... Sony had them add 3D and PlayStation Move support to the game fairly recently, and there is no way Yamauchi would just tack on something like that to his labor of love. I'd be surprised if we did get this one by Christmas."
It's like asking out a girl you really like, and she says yes! But then she stands you up. So you ask her out again, and she stands you up again. By about the 5th time, do you even want to go out with her any more?

Happen to me well not 5 times but ended up not going out , as it was always some excuse after another.
On the BluRay production me thinks they do not yet have enough plants with capacity to handle the run needed for everything coming out the pipe.
"In a separate Tweet, Yamauchi touched briefly upon why the delay happened in the first place. Apparently, finalizing some areas of the game's more complicated systems is taking time."
based on this they missed window as they still working on code
I wonder if this delay was caused by the 3D or addition of the Move controller (if that's what they thought they should add).

3D is already part of the GT5 game. And they better not be adding MOVE as that is about as useful as real mud flaps for the game. And if I had to guess adding MOVE would be they would need to rewrite the CORE code of the game to add it.
