Welcome, ladies and gentleman, to my first blog. Today I will be talking about the consoles and games I have owned.
My first console was the Original Playstation. Released in 1994, the Playstation was the next step in the gaming world. I owned games such as Tekken 3, Spyro the Dragon, Rayman and my favourite game, Theme Park World!
My second console was the Playstation 2, released in 2000. I actually had two of these consoles, they were both the original version and not the slim version. I had games such as Guitar Hero, Jak and Daxter: the Precursor Legacy, FIFA 2004, Gran Turismo 4, Medal of Honour Rising Sun, SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs and my favourite game, Crash of the Titans. I don't know what attracted me to this game, but I couldn't stop playing it. I was stuck on the last level for weeks, I had almost forgotten about it, until I revisited and completed it on my first go!
Next up was my first handheld console, the Original Nintendo DS, released in 2004. I owned a light blue one. I never purchased many games for this device but the ones that I did we're enough to keep me occupied. Nintendogs, various Professor Laytons, Rayman, Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and Brain Training were the ones I can instantly remember.
The following year I got another handheld device, the Sony PSP. For some strange reason, I can remember very little of the console or the games I owned. I can remember a few games however, including: Grand Theft Auto - Liberty City Stories, Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) and FIFA 2005.
The following year was the release on the inevitable Nintendo Wii. Of course this was more of a family console than a gamers night in. And I owned two of these as well. With games like Wii Sports, Wii Party, Wii Sports Resort and of course, Wii Fit, you couldn't go wrong when it comes to a family get together
After a life of Playstation's and Nintendo's it was a surprising change when I discovered the Xbox 360. I bought my first one (the original) second hand. And with my first Xbox, came my first Call of Duty, COD 4, Modern Warfare. This began a long line of Call of Duty. The only Call of Duty's I do not own are United Offensive, Finest Hour and COD 2 The Big Red One. I also owned games on my first Xbox 360 such as FIFA 2008, Just Cause, Halo 3, many Lego games, Skylanders: Spyros Adventure and Skyrim.
Tragically, the inevitable happened, red ring had plagued my beloved Xbox. This is when I bought my second Xbox. The Slim and stylish Elite Version. I purchased games such as COD Black Ops 2, Saints Row 3 and 4, FIFA 13, Assassins Creed 3, Lego The Lord of The Rings, Halo 4 and Grand Theft Auto 5. And this is how I stayed for a number of years.
Then I saw a advertisement for a brand new PSP successor, the Playstation Vita. Only recently with the release of the PS4 has this handheld become recognised. Because for a long time the PS Vita was in in the huge shadow of Nintendo's 3DS. And to be honest, it still is. Anyway, I have only recently got my hands on a Playstation Vita and have bought a few games to play on plane, train or long car journeys, as well as at home. My collection consists of: LittleBigPlanet PSVita, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, Gravity Rush, Guacemelee, Hotline Miami, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, Dynasty Warriors Next, Modnation Racers: Road Trip, Ratchet and Clank and Invizimals The Alliance. The one game I still must get, however, is Tearaway!
Next-gen. Xbox One or Playstation 4 (or Wii U). This is the question I asked myself for months. And I finally decided just before release. My PS past was calling me. Playstation 4 was my console of choice. However, I am still possibly looking to get an Xbox One in the foreseeable future. But for now, I own a PS4. As well as a few games to play: Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack, Battlefield 4, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, FIFA 14, Call of Duty Ghosts and Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag are my physical games (and although digital is the future, I still prefer an old fashioned disc). I also have Resgun, Don't Starve, Warframe, DC Universe Online, War Thunder, Outlast, Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition and Mercenary Kings. The games I'm looking forward to now are Elder Scrolls Online, Watch Dogs, Destiny, AC Unity and of course The Last of Us which I never got to play as I never owned a PS3. And there's still hope that GTAV could go next-gen. Fingers Crossed.
