"Activision is guarding the Crash Bandicoot license so closely, it won't even allow it to be part of a fan art design contest Naughty Dog is running in celebration of its 30th Anniversary art book."

Seriously Activision? That's one serious asshole move.

@berserker66666 Well that's not really true, I think IGN has the most trolls but the worst case is polygon there the trolls are actually the people writing the articles.

@walterg74 I agree 100% with your second point, this is just ridiculous from MS. As for your first point I think the problem is simply that they let people keep the games instead of letting people just "rent" them like Sony, I personally like PS+ better just because most of these games that I get from PS+ are just one-and-done games (meaning I just play them once and then I'm finished with them, when I really like the game I can just buy it later or I just keep my subscription), that might sound bad but I think it's a great deal. If MS lets you keep the games I doubt that they will ever be able to offer the same value as Sony.

Except for the fact that Gamespot doesn't know what gameplay is, this looks pretty good.

@Warlord_Irochi It's technically not Sony Santa Monica they just helped the game is made by Ready at Dawn.

@ACMC85 @Warlord_Irochi @denhoffi I understand that there isn't much of a need to play it by yourself when you like to just watch it. I did both, I can recommend you videogamesawesome.com (or farfromsubtle channel on youtube), they are pretty fun to watch and do a lot of different playthroughs, I especially recommend their Heavy Rain playthrough.

@Jedi4ce28 @C-THREE I think there are positive things to this episodic release, for example the fact that they could change some things in the game because of our feedback if there are things that a lot of people criticize.

@Warlord_Irochi @denhoffi I agree, I would even go as far as to say the first episode was boring in a way and it had weird moments but it was still interesting and I was happy that I kept going because in the end it was a fantastic game with one of the best endings to a game ever.

@Warlord_Irochi @denhoffi Like I said it feels weird to attribute a score to an episode if there is a bigger storyline to be told, therefore it feels weird to criticize the missing "payoff".

I don't understand the need to attribute a score to something that is actually just a fraction of the game, I get that it is a strange situation because not many games are episodic but I still think we should all wait until the last episode to "grade" this game.

I want to say that I respect Carolyns review and I agree (obviously only on the things that can be said about the first season too, like gameplay/choice-illusion) with her, but i have to say that this review feels that is has been written exclusively for fans of the series. If I wouldn't have played the first season this review would probably scare me off because it mentions nearly nothing of the positive things in the game (I haven't played it but I'm sure there are some good things). Instead it focuses on the bad things that aren't as bad in my opinion. For example the choice-illusion or as it is mentioned in the Bad: "Odd tension between choice and linearity", it simply isn't possible for game developers to make a game that considers all the choices made by the player they would have to create to many different story-lines and outcomes. In the end, all the games with "major choices" in them have just an illusion of choice and still have a somewhat linear story(for example Telltale games or Mass Effect). The choices evolve mostly around things that seem important but in the end aren't, for example if you decide who will live (like in the first season of The Walking Dead) or who you will take on a mission (in Mass Effect). For me it has never been about those choices but mostly about bonding with the characters and having a unique experience that in my opinion is so very different from other games that it stands out

This can also be said about the second point mentioned in the "Bad" section, "All setup, little payoff", of course I haven't played the episode yet so I haven't had any chance to evaluate it for myself but it still feels odd to have this as a critique, when you have something that is episodic then obviously it isn't going to be all action or storyline-closure in the first episode. Like any other episodic entertainment (Tv-shows) the beginning is all set-up for whats to come, you first have to get to know the characters and bond with them in order to grow fond of them or hate them, if you start with the action right out the gate the decisions and actions won't feel as impact-full as they do.

What I miss from this review is if any of the problems from previous Telltale games have been resolved. For example does the game run smoother on consoles because on PS3/360 it was choppy at times and there were some odd glitches that disrupted the experience(I know she played on Pc but it would have been interesting to know). In addition it would have been very interesting to know how the gameplay was, in particular the time-management. I have found this to be a problem in 400Days and The Wolf Among Us, they previously gave you a good amount of time to read and choose your option but in the recent games I wasn't even able to read all the options before time ran out. I think they should only rush you in situations that require a fast decision like in action scenes or if they want the situation to feel urgent. I was disappointed that this wasn't mentioned.
