In a nutshell: For some it's gonna be a repetitive bore and for others it's gonna be fun and awesome. I'm sure a game like this is gonna suffer from a fair share of bugs as well. I'd say if you are interested in buying it, Save your money and wait a bit before buying it.
@gamerboy100: Oh no I totally agree with you. I've been there myself. A storm knocks out the internet or there's an outage in the area and there goes an achievement. It sucks but it is what it is. I do wish that they'd allow us to delete the games we have 0 achievements for though.
I much prefer showcasing individual achievements rather than just a total GS. Having a big GS proves nothing but the fact that you played a bunch of garbage, easy to beat games to boost your score. It'd be cool to highlight a person getting a really difficult achievement, Yeah they may have a low GS but look at what they accomplished that a select few only have.
@Zorlac: So I have to be a developer to know that people intentionally put out broken games and patch it later...seriously? Bioware apologized for Mass Effect Andromeda because it was riddled with bugs that pretty much ruined the game. Sure, The game is probably awesome after patches. I've seen the graphics before and after patches and it looks far superior so that begs the question - Why couldn't that effort have been put forth before the original release? Why not delay the game a little bit longer and put on that extra polish that clearly would have delivered a superior product and better sales?
Same goes for illfonic and Friday The 13th. Not only did they apologize numerous times but they also put out DLC, that was suppose to be paid DLC, for free to help make up for it. And that's on top of the what...half a dozen patches or so to fix the game. And last time I checked it still has issues on the Xbox One version but I'm not sure how well it runs after the latest patch.
And that brings us to Yooka-Laylee. Not only did they attempt to patch and fix the camera before this grand patch after people complained how broken it was, Which lead to make mediocre reviews and pretty much killed what could have been an enjoyable, nostalgia filled game. They had to make an entirely new camera system to fix the issue. Now once again, I'm sure after patches it's an enjoyable game but why couldn't it have been like this before hand?
@Zorlac: just like the developers of Friday The 13th didn't think it was a bad game lol. Come on, You gotta notice these things. There's no excuse for it, Especially when this is a team of experienced game developers. There is no way issues that big skate by testers and everyone else on the staff unless it's on purpose.
Here's my issue - They knew the game had a camera issue, release it anyways, then 4 months to fix it the freaking thing and still expect people to buy it. I'm sick of lazy developers who put out half finished products and expect people to be fine with that. Friday The 13th, Yooka-Laylee are two big examples of indie games that could have been huge if not for the half-ass effort of the developers. Let's not forget Mass Effect Andromeda either.
We buy these games because we expect a finished product, with little to no issues, from the jump. Not for a half broken mess that takes several months and patches to fix.
