@angerawr:

"We autoplay videos that are very closely related to article content."

So why do videos from the next article down the page autoplay? They have nothing to do with the comments section I just opened, yet they blast in my ear anyway. They're not even on screen, they're way down the page, that for unknown reasons loaded when I clicked show comments for the article I'm in.

When I click on view comments it auto scrolls the page up (too much), which starts the next article's video, which is now blasting at me and I didn't even want that article. Worse is that it will unreliably pause the video if it's off screen. More often than not it doesn't. I don't care about the other article, I'm guessing you get "free" clicks for this, so it won't change. It wouldn't be an issue if the videos were not on auto-play but we know that's never changing.

Had to turn off uBlock Origin just to reply. The site is practically unusable with it on. The "show more" button takes you back to the top of the main page, cannot leave comments or forum posts, up voting returns a weird response page, and there may be other issues as well. If I remove all cookies and re-login some of the functionality comes back. Haven't checked everything but that isn't something I want to do every time I visit the site. This needs to be fixed or they'll lose people. I won't put up with it for long. It's there choice but ads are annoying and potential unsafe and I'll take my clicks elsewhere.

@chashuramen: Even if you don't scroll down enough to play the ad, if you click on the comments button to read or leave one it auto scrolls just enough to trigger the next ad and play it. This is so frustrating and they know it. It's all for ad revenue and they care not for their readers.

Honestly this hasn't gone anywhere in a year or two. Many people have complained about the auto playing videos with ads blaring at us for a long time and it has only gotten worse. With the addition of being able to scroll from one article to the next these videos are playing if we are still on one article but close to another, or if you click on the comments button it auto scrolls the page enough to trigger the next article's ad video. When can we expect some honest feedback on this and not just another we're looking into it? You've been looking into for at least a year probably more.

@Basinboy: Still no bearing on what the product is or the audience it's targeting.

Sure do. Phil has repeatedly called Scorpio a "Premium" console.

"With this console, Microsoft is going after the ‘high-end consumer’, according to Spencer".

http://technoaisle.com/xbox-scorpio-will-premium-console-says-phil-spencer/

'"I call it a premium console because I want people to be clear that the customer we're building that for is the premium gaming customer," said Spencer. "The person who buys the majority of the games, the person who's playing the most games, spending the most hours, spending the most dollars. It's like our Elite controller. I call that a premium controller'.

"I'm not trying to scare anybody on the price. We're going to come out on a price that we think is fair for the product that we build and the customers will tell us as they always do. I call it premium because I don't want people to get confused that somehow Scorpio is the thing that is going to take over the Xbox line."

@StHapns247: I totally agree, I new tab links as I go down the main page for reading later. But then I get random ads blasting away, I don't want to watch a video, that's why I clicked on written articles not video articles.

To Gamespot, still getting videos in active tabs, Firefox 48. Also, even if you get the videos not playing in inactive tabs, ads should not automatically play when I go to that tab. If and only if I want to watch the related video and actively hit the play button should the video start and play the ad. Stop trying to up your ad watch count.

Must videos start playing on their own in new tabs? It's really irritating to be scrolling down the main page, opening articles not flag as containing a video, and sound starts playing. It's always an ad too. This feels like another dirty way to just play more ads. If the video is important or meaningful to the content, then flag it as both.

Yes, please stop the auto playing of videos in articles and stop putting auto play videos in articles that are not tagged as having a video. I open articles in new tabs to be read later and suddenly there is some video in my ear.

Also having this issue with the Link voice article. Checked some other articles and they have a comment box showing, and was able to up vote a post.
