Alot of my friends are really into Starcraft 2 and since its on sale for $20 I was thinking of giving it a try. I don't really know anything about it, except that its a strategy game. My only concerns are that i'm not really into games like dota or LoL. There just not really my style, so do you think I would still enjoy Starcraft 2?

KABCOOL

If you haven't played anything like this I'm sorry to say, but you're in for a rough time then lol. Last time I played (like a year ago) even silver leagued players were starting to learn the game. What I mean is that you'll get utterly slaughtered once you step foot online and you'll have to either have your friends help you learn the game or do some reading.

I don't say this to be a d1ck, but games like these aren't accessible in the same way as *most* shooters are. There is a ton of things to learn, from what to build when, where and how and what units to build and at what time and generally learning how to have a good unit composition and to be creative. You'll have to force yourself to dual-task (attacking the enemy while also building new units on the same time) and generally just be several place at once.

Obviously all these things aren't being done very well in the lowest leagues, but if you step online without having ANY clue about the above mentioned even the noobiest of the noobs will own you and it won't even be fun.

RTS games require you to learn a lot about how the game works before you can have fun with it (online). However, it's not like it's impossible and even though I might make it sound as if the entry barrier is ridiculously high it's really just all about being AWARE of the things I mentioned and at the very least know a couple of build-orders so you won't just get steam rolled. A lot of the gameplay in SC2 is about knowing simple stuff, the trick is to memorize all of it and utilize it at the right time.

If you want to play online I suggest you watch Day9. Check out his archive here: http://day9.tv/archives/ however to be perfectly honest I haven't followed SC2 in a long time so I dunno if he's still doing his "newbie tuesday" show. I remember it being great because users (who weren't good) submitted their replies and he would go through them and talk about the mistakes they did and how they could've done better. He's really great to watch if you want to learn something.

me and 3 of my friends tried to get on after it launched in Europe. While it only took us roughly 10 minutes to download and install we still haven't been able to get online and play at all. Right now the launcher isn't working and we cannot even change servers. Great day one purchase :3

But..but...the dudebro...the xplosions...the "forced" coop ruining the franchise!! :cry: looks like another awesome entry to this stellar franchise :cool:campzor
TBH I couldn't see the series go on for so long as a pure horror game. Or more horror-ish. The first game was fine for what it did, but two more of exactly the same? People would've complained whatever they did.

I'm doing erands/bounty hunting missions before moving on and yeah it's just a bit on the easy side. I'm not far into the game though so maybe it might change. I do, however, wish there were a hard mode option instead of just easy and normal.

[QUOTE="Zeviander"][QUOTE="killzowned24"]Here was one months worth of last year.

And? Lots of them doesn't make them free. And once you stop paying... *POOF* they're gone. It sure is a great deal for a cow who has no money to actually buy games. Maybe this is why PS3 have been selling so poorly. People are just waiting for the PS+ version?

The service is optional and really not that expensive. It's not like you're forced to have PS+ unlike XBL Gold.

[QUOTE="Masenkoe"]

[QUOTE="Zeviander"]Free game for only $60/year! ShadowDeathX

PS+ is $50. Its a good deal for some.

Yes. If your primary platform is Playstation, then it is an amazing deal.

I got a new PS3 after having been without one for a year and bought 3 months of PS+. I think I've got 8-10 games I've never played just sitting around. When I'm done with AC3 I'll start on Batman Arkham City and later InFamous 2. So yeah if you haven't played the games it's a really great service - even if you don't get the games for free.

[QUOTE="ZombieKiller7"]

With Kinect crippling the Xbox360 core gaming focus, are you worried that MS will do the same thing next gen?

I've been thinking

If 720 has Kinect 2.0 built in then we will be forced to buy Kinect, if for example the hardware cost $400 then we will pay $150 for Kinect hardware that alot of us don't want and won't use.

Secondly if the GUI uses kinect, what about people who use their Xbox in a smaller room, that don't have room to be waving their arms around to control the interface.

While I understand the business reasons, Kinect still irritates.

Why can't any company just focus on providing value and service to core gamers? Everybody's busy inventing tablet controllers and all kind of stupid schit, nobody's focused on just having a normal controller and making great games.

I'm sorry are those games not playable on the 360? :|

You'd be able to play most of those along with a great deal of exclusives (and even more upcoming exclusives) on the PS3. The PC completely triumph that. Not only does the PC feature superior versions of multiplats, but it's also giving the Xbox 360 the middle finger while pis*ing on it in terms of exclusives.

IMO the Xbox 360 is the least attractive platform out of the bunch, but on the same time it still does offer plenty of games.. So yeah.. I am, however, curious about nex gen. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if MS will continue like they have in the last couple of years.
