US citizen here, currently in college, living in the dorms, through no money of my own; it's all funds that my parents have saved for me over time. However, the plan we have doesn't cover summers, so I have to go back home and live with my parents during that time. But last year I got myself an on-campus job because the fees became too much for me (and I didn't want to ask my parents for more money...a mixture of shame and not wanting to be more of a burden). At the rate I'm currently at, I won't have enough money to move out when I graduate, unless I'm lucky and get a job right out of college.

I don't want to blanket my experiences as being the same as anyone else's, but most of my friends have been working from day one to find a job, with varying success. My boyfriend, after being unemployed and extremely unsuccessful at getting hired, has decided to market himself and his graphic design skills, and has had more luck in that regard. But none of us have made enough to live on our own, and we're still largely dependent on our parents. But we don't want to be, and as soon as we get the chance, most of us will get on our own two feet.

Journey does it well, but it's a Playstation exclusive.

I don't necessarily think games need to have the best of both. Sometimes sacrificing gameplay just works when all you want is a story, and vice versa. Sometimes you want to just shoot some dudes without context; sometimes you want to get lost in the story.

Yeah, I do. There's a lot to learn from well-crafted games that made good use of motion controls. But I guess it wasn't worth the monetary investment from Sony and Microsoft.

Experience has worn them down. Tbh the longer I stay on top of game news and check out the history of the industry, the more jaded I become too. It's to the point where I'm thinking about going casual again to get a breath of fresh air.

However, in regards to some of the whinier people, that's more a case of them needing to grow up.

@xdude85: Because otherwise it will become a bloated shell of its former self.

Case in point: Sonic the Hedgehog

@cainetao11: Since the story of Final Fantasy is different every game (and now since they're switching up the gameplay to keep things fresh), I think keeping the FF franchise going is okay since they're really only similar in name only.

If it's not your type of game, that's not the devs fault, or yours.

Cheaper hardware. Also, not everyone is obsessed with graphical quality. And I prefer couch gaming :p

I remember after my boyfriend beat the first colossus in the HD remaster of Shadow of the Colossus, he stopped playing because he thought the controls were terrible (he also thought the first boss was too difficult though). Not saying the SoTC controls are great, cause of course the physics can be wonky and there's some frustration to be found in controlling your horse, but I never felt like the controls were inhibiting. Different thresholds, I guess.
