[QUOTE="cyraxkilawatt"][QUOTE="supa_badman"] The fact that guns are accessible to civilians in itself is a very big problem. But I'm Canadian, so I'm slightly biased.supa_badman

Yay... only criminals and scumbags shouuld have access to them, makes it easier to kill or rob innocent cilivians in their homes without the threat of being shot.

Well no, of course police should have them as well, but gun laws should be strictly regulated and police should be very thorough and harsh with enforcing that law, although I think that the general zeitgeist with Americans, along with the massive population, it would be extremely difficult to keep it in check and would probably be counter-productive.

Americans, for a lack of a better word, love guns and care too much about self-defense for it to work unfortunately. In my opinion anyway.

One don't generalize, cause I know alot of people who would be offended by your statement; I live in California so I know plenty of people who hate guns. and basically what you are saying is don't fight back when someone is attacking me, or if a woman is being raped, she should just lie down and take it; none of us should fight back basically, nice world you live in; sorry but in the real world there are these guys... they are called badguys, they do bad things, and the easier it is to do that bad thing the more willing they are to do it.

And second, we have regulations, i'm not opposed to having to take courses before owning a gun, and I do believe in being certified before carrying a gun in public

And third: We need them for the Zombie Apocalypse in December (2012 remember) :P

[QUOTE="Charazani"]Only criminals would have guns if we changed our gun laws. Just a thought.Wasdie

Personal self defense against law breaking people is the last reason why we should be allowed to own firearms. I think it's actaully the weakest argument for gun ownership.

So we should just let the law breaking scumbags break the law, sorry but if they have a knife and I have a gun, I win, if they have a gun and I have a gun, I have home advantage and they are dead, the threat that the home owner has a gun seems like a pretty good deteriant to me.

Whats with all these school shootings in America?

Because kids are taught that they need attention to be popular. Some can't handle it and have very irresponsible parents who keep their guns unlocked and in places the kids can get to.

It's only getting worse in the modern age. The push of cellphones and the internet has forced people to be up-to-date and connected 24/7. This is why kids rake up 20k text messages in a single month.

If everybody around you was constantly talking to each other and communicating and they left you out, you would inevitably feel like you're not doing something right and thus want some attention. Some kids just don't know how to do it.

The fact that guns are accessible to civilians in itself is a very big problem. But I'm Canadian, so I'm slightly biased.

A. I said Reduction, not a complete end (which is still a worthy goal).

B. We do have police to call if something goes wrong.

Yeah...the police can't just instantly teleport to your location.

And usually by the time they arrive, the crime as been done, the victims are dead and the assaliant is either gone or shot him/herself, way to go.

If we outlaw guns then only outlaws will have guns which means responsible law abiding adults won't have them. Which could in turn mean irresponsible kids will have no access to guns which might mean a massive reduction in school shootings. hmmmmmm.

naw that's idiotic.

Yeehaw! I love ma guns.

But what about the outlaw's children ;)

I blame US government for letting people have guns...

Pirate700

That's right, cause the U.S. Government should be able to tell people what they can and can't have, and then what they can and can't eat, drink, drive, play, etc. Nothing like good old fashion governmental oppression to keep the masses in line; funny thing is the biggest supporter to gun control happen to be criminals, why is that.

Why did you dignify his stupidity with a response? SMH

OCD.... but you're right.

No idea. When I went to school, we just got in fistfights in the parking lot. Now people shoot each other. I blame video games.

F the U.S. Constitution, which gives people inalienable rights, which the government can't take from them; the roadblock of oppression.

Clearly you are not an American, as America is not a state, but a collection of States, you know those stars on our flag represent them; an individual state such as California can be a failed state, but the U.S. as a whole is a heck lot better than most other countires.

I don't see any machetes being inserted into unmentionable places.

no different with guns and abortion

Right, cause no other country has abortions or criminals with guns; at least here in American, the innocent civilians can protect themselfs.
