Today I turned on my xbox as usual (same xbox for 3 years). It's really hot outside, and the AC wasn't on, and after about 5 minutes of playing, the xbox just shut off by itself and 2 red lights went off. This never happened before, so I went online and checked what it meant, and it was because of overheating. So I kept it off, turned on the AC, and after about 2 hours, it was as cool as it gets. Now after five minutes of playing, it shut off AGAIN. I checked it, and it was still cool! I played again, and soon enough, it shut off. Still cool, and during play even cool air was coming out of the fan. I've also noticed an irregularly loud fan noise, much louder than I'm used to. Any help? Sorry for the wall of text, but I hate getting these two red lights when it's not even overheating anymore.narmi819It might just be normally overheating, or it might be that the heat sinks have come up off the console enough that they're not working. The exact same thing happened to me. I tried towel tricking the 360, but I just said screw it, told the guy my 360 red ringed, and hoped they didn't check it since I was out of the original 1 year warranty that covers all problems.
