Love it or hate it WOW has changed the life of the gamer and the gaming industry, and wether you play it or not a WOW expansion is a big event, and everyone is expectant as to what it will bring. Some await the expansion because they are invested in it, paying subscription, others are simply trying to figure out if they should join or not and await for the latest reviews to make up their minds.

As good as they are, the latest reviews as per metacritic, have been the worse WOW has seen, leaving people to wonder, and some not at all, that the king has laid down his crown and its to anyones guess if he will rise again.

WOW is as good as it ever was, what it does it does well, yet that is not to say it has succeeded in staying young; with better game engines and fast paced combat and more innovative game mechanics, absorbing storylines, not to mention offering more for your dollar, other MMos have managed to catch the attention of the new and old generation of players, as well as swaying more than a handfull of once WOW loyals.

In responce to this Blizzard has sought to simplify the game, likely hoping to attract younger players, but which in turn has allienated many of its hardcore gaming fanbase.

One of the most controversial topics is subscription, as many argue that WOW does not offer enough to justify its high subscription cost.

MOP is a turning point for WOW, whether it will listen to the general clamor and change its tactics or blindly follow the path it has kept, WOW will never be the one we so fondly remember.

If the user score is any indication, this will then be the worst yet rated, WoW expansion; amongst the strongest complaints is the lack of innovation insisting that its the same WoW.

Whilst other MMOs seem to be, at least, making an effort to push themselves beyond the boundries of the same cooked up MMO formula and bring new and innovative ideas to the genre, WOW seem to have settled into comformity making only slight changes that, in accord to many reviewers, seem to pander toward a much more younger audience than WOW was innitially intended for.

It may not seem to many that keeping with the same good ol' formula is a bad thing, but the truth is in games, be it video games or else, exitement lies in surprise in little twitches that bring unexpeted gifts and in doing somethin that breaks the routine.

With other games doing their best to know down the walls of traditional gameplay and, to boot, offering a better deal for the dollar ( as some do not require subscription), it makes you wonder if Blizzard will get a clue and see that the future of its behemont turning bleak.

This of course, will not happen, not as long as WOW die hard fans keep showering Blizzard with subscription dollars, its got nothing to fear and no reason to feel it should give in proportion to what it gets.

But it still makes you think if there is anyone at Blizzard who trully cares enough about the game to realize something has to change, something that was lost must be found.

Reaching level 13

At this point I have a better view of the game, and am able to give a more informed opinion at least for early players.

THE POSSITIVE

Yes its a grinder, but the combat will keep you on your toes and just when you think its getting a bit monotomous, the developers throw a curb ball like, letting you handle a special weapon.

Youll never need to buy a weapon or armor, youll craft those items yourself.

There is never a lack of help, and just because someone is allready hitting that big baddie you need to complete the quest if you join in youll still be able to account that kill to the quest you are doing.

Class customization- although you choose an innitial class - Berserker, Defender, sorcerer, cleric. at about lvl 10 you get to unlock the capacity to choose skills from other classes, thus you can have added skills from each class.

REARRANGE- although it took me a while to figure out how to sell items I dont need to vendors I was finally able to figure it out, whats more vendors have - rearrange- which takes away all the guess work, letting you know which items you will definitely not need and can sell without future remorse. Rearrange will not however consider any armor or weapons youve allready outleveled, so youll have to sell those by hand.

THE NEGATIVE

Only one race- sorry no dwarves or elves or beastly races to choose from, humans are the only race. likewise only one startup location, at least so far.

Combat does have its flaws, though your character does count on moves of its own, these are less than a handfull and youll mostly be using you skill boxes, just like any other mmo, with the difference that youve no lock on your enemy or him/her on you, so you better be sure where you hit if you want to get ahead.

Dungeons are easy, you wont loose your way nor need to fear for traps, just run down an easily discernible path and kill whatever is in the way.

the downside of Party Quests or Big bosses is that its first come first served, youll get credit for the kill if you are in one, but unless you are the first one to strike the beast you wont get any loot. Since Ive only done this while playing solo I dont know if FORMED PARTIES will share on the loot regardless of who hits first.

at level 13 I still havent gotten a mount, nor have any idea of how to get one.

thats all for now.

my experience of the game is still too brief, but so far Ive found the graphics on par with any of the mayor MMOs. cutscenes are good I especially appreciate the one when the chief craftsman gives you a thumbs up after crafting a weapon.

its mostly grinding so far, but action combat mixed with good dodging keeps it exciting, to that added that you can take a defeated enemies weapon and for a brief time period wield it yourself; some enemies also drop meat you can eat to restore health and there are some barrels in the village you can pick up and for a period of time throw them and watch them explode in your enemies faces.

characters and scenery is well designed if not spectacular.

I specially like that if you see someone fighting against an enemy you need to fight to complete a quest, you can just jump in anyway and complete it simultaneously.

So far I dont see much if anything I can complain about this game. Ill see what I discover after a few more hours.

at this point I highly recomend this game

RaiderZ is an upcoming free to play - true action- MMO, and though its still some ways before its release there is quite a number out there doing beta testing.

To anyone doing the beta testing, what are your opinions on this game so far? is it worth playing? what are its ups and downs?

Just trying to get a view of what is coming.

thanks

Another Korean game that some may not consider an MMO (mainly due to it's "hub" system) But Vindictus

taikathaya

Many players ( myself included) do not consider Vindictus due to its IP block of various regions.
