Hi

I am recently in the process of preparating my PC for a reformat.

I want to install Win 8 64, but the cost seems prohibitive; nonetheless with so many new free options out there, it only seems logical that one should want avoid the expense of these operating system, in favor of the new, more economical variety, but how do these OS compare to Win 8 and are they any good for gaming?

Which is the best free operating system for gaming and how does compare to win8?

Thanks

DAY 2 - 2 1/2 HOURS GAME

- ONCE MORE- this should not be taken as an official review

If I thought this game was shameless, that was before I got my first emotes and first change of attire, the emotes make my beach bimbo seem like a brain-dead beach bimbo and the new set of clothes appear as if they were fashioned by a hallucigenic pervert.

even though the first mech should be available to me soon after level 17, it feels far too long considering the endless amount of grinding; So far there has not been a single quest that diverts from " kill X", which makes solo play tiresome and monotome. at the current time PVP is nowhere to be seen and the community is all too busy on their own dilemas to be of any help.

Warnings have been made by other players that, simply installing the game, has caused theyr systems to freeze so they request to install and play at your own risk.

one interesting point about the game so far, is that developers have made it so that only the NPCs that you attack will attack you. whilst this makes it easier to travel from point A to point B, without being bothered by unwanted or unprovoked attacks from wildlife as well as thugs, it also makes the AI seem dumb, unable to recognize an enemy walking right into their camp or territory, without being so much as eyed suspiciously.

I trully hope the developers are able to refine this game, before feminists groups and church fanatics, rip them apart.

DAY 1- 1HOUR GAMETIME

in this brief hour I advanced a few levels and got a general feel of the game.

Since its beta its likely that a lot of changes will be made, so this is not to be considered as an official review.

Character creation is- at the moment- bland, there are a variety of faces and hairstyles to choose from but other than that costumisation at, character creation is very limited. there is no chance in modifying your body type which comes in only 2 types depending on the class you choose: buxom and petit buxom.

This game is so shameless Im ashamed to play it, it makes a wet t-shirt contest look like a spelling bee competition. I dont want to think of what will happen to the developers if feminist groups get a wiff of this game.

the way the characters run, depict them more as beach bimbos than hardened warriors, but their attitudes are as tough as they come, ready for the next battle and craving blood.

scenery is amazing and the storyline compelling, but at the time the game is missing some key components that, in my opinion should be part of any post Tera game. The ability to dodge attacks and attack while you move make a huge difference in MMO now-a-days. it would also help if the character was able to have options on what to do or say from time to time.

so far combat is  target lock and hotkey, something which should be refined in modern mmos to add a fastpaced action. There is the promise of getting a Mech in the future and am hoping that this will improve combat.

Quests are so far the stone in this games shoe, as its depicting it to be solely a grindfest. perhaps later quests will show more diversity or it is likely that the game is meant for pvp excitement rather than solo action.

Ill see how far the game takes me as

My vote on this is whatever keeps it from becoming another Tiberium Alliances.

Seriously what were they thinking?? they did everything wrong with that game.

My experience with LEAGUE OF LEGENDS is that its a highly adicting game, however its not to be tackled like any other games of its type due to the fact that, due to its limited scenarios, it gets old fast ( at least that was my case).

for what I could tell there were only 3 arenas one for 3vs3 one for 5vs5 and conquest type arena, theres possibly a fourth, but it appears to only be accessible to caps.

even with fast paced combat, and leveling its lacking diversity.

are there any updates and arenas coming about soon?

While the graphics are outdated, the combat is sill great and more polished then any other game on the market. The new content doesn't feel new mainly because you've been playing so long that the game just doesn't excite you anymore. I've been playing just as long as you and I haven't been amped for a new expansion in a few years. But that doesn't mean the game is bad or that I'm tired of it. What it boils down to is that the MMO market has changed a lot over the years. Overall the entire MMO genre is starting to die. It's the reason why so many MMO's are going F2P. But think about it. The genre is dying and WoW still has a monthly fee and they're still on top after all these years. No matter what you think of the product, the fact that they are still at the top is nothing short of incredible. If you feel that you need to move on, that's fine. It sounds to me like you're more burnt out on the game than anything.sTyLnK

In regards to graphics thats debatable, WOW has allways been cartooni and thats just its style and it has helped blizard to hide the age of its engine, as long as animation is good no one is the wiser.

As for combat I noticed you did not mention innovative, and thats whats holding WOW back its refrained from taking the risks that other MMO companies are taking.

Whilst Tera may not be in any way as good as WOW it took risks and has at least opened new doors in gameplay for other MMO developers to follow throug; even Turbine in the latest expansion of LOTRO ROR has, as some say it, reinvented mmo combat in a good way.

What innovations has WOW brought of late? a rippoff version of pokemon battles?

I dont believe MMORPG is dying, if anything with social networks such as facebook, twitter, linkedin, etc. I think MMOs are the next logical step to videogames and they will only get better and bigger.

Many MMOs are now going free to play because people are starting to wonder about the cost, after all we pay for the game and then are expected to pay a monthly subscription, it all adds up to a hefty ammount of money and people are starting to wonder if its trully worth it.

WOW is a great game, but so are many others now, and WOWs reviews of late are lacking. WOW stays because people look to it kindly, like a memory no one wants to see fade away, one reviewer even said that if he didnt have so many friends in WOW, he would have never renewed subscription.

As said WOW is a great game, but its falling behind, and it will only be so long before it falls so far behind it will dissapear in the horizon.

Then those other sites didn't bother to even play the game, since it's impossible to experience all the new content in 1-4 days. The raid content wasn't even ready at that point. We'll probably see a review from GS within a couple weeks, which is good since a month is the least amount of time that should be put into an mmo before reviewing it.

Actually from what other players have said getting through all the game content takes less than a week. Im sure an experience player would have no trouble playing through in a couple of days.

The likely reason why its taken Gamespot this long is because of the material they ussually prepare to present the review.

At last the rangers reach the lands of the Rohirim, and as we step closer to the final battle, new dangers rise to encounter the heroes of middle earth.

At the moment I can not give much of a valid review, save some initial observations of the first few hours in Rohan.

I must say I entered the new expansion with aprehension thinking that LOTRO was loosing its touch, yet I was pleasantly wrong.

Though I have not yet obtained my warsteed and the skills that come with him/her, the initial changes to the game make it all the more pleasant to play.

The addition of OPEN-TAPPING in combat is a new way of ensuring a friendly gaming comunity, as players will be rushing to help one another ( and themselves in the process), this not only makes it all the more easy to quest, but also all the more easy to find a possible fellowship.

with remote looting LOTRO has gone a long way to solving your baggage problem, since all excess items you can not collect are stored in a remote pannel for 1hr time, this is in my opinion a much better idea than that one extra bag, which in my opinion would not have made much of a difference and would rather end up being, one more bag I wont have space on.

the quest are pretty much the old kill X collect X, at least so far, though there have been a few that offer a little more action, such as the warbands.

much as the title says I would like to hear your opinion about LOTRO ROR expansion
