[QUOTE="critorkong"]You either got to mes with the switches, don't know how to start the game (common), or need to clean the Box cart. I haven't cleaned any game paks, so I'll get to that for sure. The only switches I really mes with are difficulty and game type switches, which also reminds me that most of these games tend to change color during gameplay without me touching the game type switch (???). Also, is there a certain method to start the game that I'm not aware of?Hello all again. Remember when I made a thread asking how to hook up an Atari 2600 console? Well, I got it connected to the TV, but I'm not sure if it's working the way it should. This is really my first time delving into 2nd generation consoles, so I'm somewhat lost here.
I bought the console on ebay bundled with 4 games, 3 joysticks and the two-in-one paddles. I also bought 6 extra games from a diffrent seller, who said all the games were tested and work. The console, however, was untested, along with the controllers and four games, so my expectations wern't TOO high.
So, here's the deal: the only game that seems to work perfectly is Earthworld. In both Space Invaders games (each from a diffrent seller), the character takes no damage, and I can't fire lazers, even with my genesis controller. In both copies of Combat (again from diffrent sellers), I can't move OR fire the weapon. In Surround, niether characters move. In Video Olympics, the ball doesn't appear; in warlords, the players don't appear. Air Sea Battle and Earthworld are the only games that make noises.
Am I doing something wrong here? Is there something wrong with the console? All three joysticks have clunky/somewhat unresponsive sticks. Is this the nature of the the controllers, or should I get new ones? I have repaired a Genesis with soldering, so there might be a chance I can repair this if there is a problem. Any advice is much appreciated!:D

Thanks. I was hopng I wouldn't need to buy anything else, but $4.50's no biggieWhat you'll need is called a "Gold-Plated F Jack Connector to Phono Plug" item #278-276. They go for about $4.50 at Radio Shack. The connector plugs into the coaxial on the back of your television set. The Atari game cable plugs into the other end of the connector. This will give you a sharper imagine than a traditional Game Switchbox.

Hey fellas, I just got a woodgrain Atari 2600 console on ebay and I'm trying to figure out how to hook it up to my Toshiba SD TV. I searched this on Youtube, and pretty much everyone mentioned this adapter box thing which I don't have (and hope I don't need to get). Is there anywhere on an SD TV that I can hook up the console's attached cord into, or do I need that box?
I just picked up DBZ: Supersonic Warriors on Amazon, and the previous owner already unlocked every character, story mode, etc. How do I clear the save data so I can play it for real??? thanks
When I made my list for this thread, I was thinking for more of an artistic museum than a historical display, in which case Pong and Dragon's Lair would fit much better.
[QUOTE="critorkong"]No one said it was the first video game but it pretty much created the industry. Also it was the template for new games and new genres to follow, and was the most acessible and created the multimillion dollar industry which then was amazing. And pong isn't even innovative really because it definately isn't the very first video game.

Like Emerald Warrior said, Pong was the first popular arcade game, which could be based solely on how much it was advertised. Sure, it's revolutionary, but does that really mean Pong deserves a spot in a museum before SMB?
