How the Hell can KOTOR have more votes than BG2?gozalo

You underestimate the Jedi nerds - they would buy a 2 inch USB cable if you put the word Jedi in front of it :)

Seriously, KotOR is so not even on the same level as Fallout and BG.

Baldurs Gate 2 for me. Fallout series comes very close.

Why I think Oblivion is overrated...

Story is half arse

Dungeon design is nearly non existent

Combat mechanics is shallow and too easy

Great idea but poorly executed leveling system

Terrible AI

Terrible NPC mechanics (walk against the walls more plz)

Generic art direction

Terrible loot design (glass armor? big laugh!)

Inefficient graphic engine - frame rate is the same if I am filling the screen with a wall or 3 big enemies - like WTF. Learn to clip please!

Repetitive everything - caves, NPC, voice, location, everything, Oblivion gates

Rediculous NPC behaviors

I admire Obivion for what it tries to be - an truly epic open ended RPG. However, Bethesda bit off more than they can chew since the game sacrificed a lot to be that big.

I give it an 8/10. Most of that is for ambition and not actual results.

My background...

I love FF series. FF VII, IMO, is the greatest RPG in any platform.

I love the BG series and Fallout series in the PC platform. Oblivion is ok, I think it is a big RPG with really poor attention to detail.

Witcher... it is a great game but I am unsure if it is in the same league as BG and Fallout series. It is too early to tell. I want to see what CD Projekt Red does in the next patch to fix the major issues.

No, it is not revolutionary. But it has exceptional attention to environment detail - even better than BG or Fallout in that respect. Watch how random chars go to sleep - they actually fluff their pillows. Watch how birds move away from you as if they are scared. What how people run under cover when rain comes. BG has better character development, especially regarding NPCs. Fallout has a more original world at least in regards to RPG.

The battle system is a combination of Diablo and NWN. Character development like FF X. It is a great game. The best RPG in the PC platform in a long time. Then again, there has not been that much competition except Oblivion. WoW is grindfest. GW is mindless paper thin. Oblivion is the only thing we can really mention. Witcher comes very close. What CD Projekt Red does in the next couple of months can make a huge difference.

OK. Let us get our terms correct here. IT IS NOT CENSORSHIP since it is the company themself who decided to edit the material out. There was no government agency or ESRB peopl telling them to do it.

If the artist themself decide to change the work, that is NOT censorship. Please check the meaning before you use the word. No one is limiting your choice since there was no choice to begin with.

The best NEW PC RPG right now is The Witcher by CD Projekt Red. It is a cross between Diablo and Never Winter Nights - but closer to Baldur's Gate.

It is story driven. With good hack n slash.

There are some minor technical issues especially if you have an old computer. The load times can be long. However, if you have a fast CPU and graphics card - and you can move your memory swap file seperate from your system drive, you can reduce the load times considerably (i went from 40 secs to 13 secs).

The developer has promised to patch the game before XMas.

If it was not for minor technical stuff I think the game would have gotten 9/10 across the board. Most reviews fall around 8-8.5/10.

you dont get it do you. its not about some nudity (there has been enough use of the word nipples in your post) its about cencorship in general. people just want to play the game in its original state with no changes. i dont think they pay 30$ more to see some digital boobs especially when you can download tons of pron fron the net.crapdog

Games are modified EVERYDAY for different markets and platforms I don't see why Witcher is getting special attention and the word 'censorship' is being thrown so easily OTHER THAN the fact we are talking about some nipples!

So yes, it is about the nipple and sex. If this was about a small dog or flower, people would not even bother.

This is pretty sad.

There is nothing of substance in the American version that has been removed. It is few digital nipples. Big whoop. Considering everything else, including sleeping with vampires and hookers are in there and the cursing, you guys are making mountains out of mole hills.

And all these complaints about ESRB - you have it WRONG. It was the developer CD Projekt Red the voluntarily censored their game. Why? Probably financial reasons. If they end up with getting a rating equivalent to X for games, it means many retailers will not stock the game in their shelves. Meaning, some of you may have harder time finding the game. Thus less sales for the developer.

Sheez - all these drama for a digital nipple. Wow. Are digtial nipples worth $30 more? And we wonder why gamers get such a bad rap.
