@wickstar1:

Hi - just read your post - I have never had that happen to me - but it could be a couple of things....

You should have got a cable with the controller or with the rechargeable pack......plug this into the console and try to update the controller (through the Settings menu)......or alternatively - take the batteries out and plug the cable into the Xbox and use it like a wired controller to see if that works....

here is a link http://support.xbox.com/en-NZ/xbox-one/accessories/wireless-controller-wont-power-on

Also - did you have a headset plugged into it at the time by any chance? - if so - then maybe that might have had something to do with it.....

Did you have multiple controllers connected to the same Xbox? - maybe it got confused as to which one was the primary one (?)

It sounds strange - maybe the controller has had a total fail.....(hope not)

Hope these help....

Hi - I am in New Zealand so not sure if your cable set up is the same.........but I run what is our cable box in-between my TV and Xbox......so the HDMI cable goes out of the Xbox to the cable box and then a HDMI cable goes from that to the TV.......which means basically the Xbox has to be on whenever u watch TV........but the Xbox can determine the type of TV u have and act as a remote for it - for example - u can set it up so that the TV is turned on when the Xbox is turned on - u can use your voice to make the sound louder or quieter on the TV.....pause Live TV......stuff like that - i find it quite cool........basically the TV picture becomes like a part of the dashboard that can be navigated to.....

I also have a 360 plugged into another HDMI port on my TV so it is possible to have just the Xbox One plugged in and just act like a stand alone games console.....

So basically - it depends what u want to use it for - just a games console (ie: just plug it str8 into the TV) - or to use it's other features (watching TV whilst playing games - Snap feature, voice control of volume, channel etc......)

hope that helps :)

I too think it is going pretty well - the new games coming up are pretty exciting.....I am really happy with my purchase...

I guess the problem they face a bit is that they have a hugely popular console in the 360 and trying to market the Xbox One in conjunction with the 360.....

I have both and it would be nice if they were more of a combined system - to explain - it would be nice that when I'm on my 360 dashboard it shows what games i played on my Xbox One and vice versa - at the moment they seem so separate - I can't listen to voice messages that someone sent me from their 360 when I am on the Xbox One.....

Another thing - and I think this is the one thing that would really help - is if they could get backward capability for 360 games on the Xbox One then I think personally that would be great - I don't think they want to or could possibly even do it - but I would welcome it....

just my thoughts :)

I have 47,415 points - but not really a 'points junkie' - i like to get them but don't really play extra hours on end to get them - rather move onto the next game :)

Actually it sounds like your drive door. There's 2 rubber bands on gears in your DVD drive that you need to adjust so that it registers that its closed all the way.

good point - never thought of that......

it does sound like the Disc laser unit itself - did it just all of a sudden happen? or had u had problems with games quitting on you or movies stopping half way through?

Is it still under warranty or anything like that?

(sorry for all the questions) :)

Hi - maybe the disc drive is picking up that it isn't a gaming (or DVD or CD) disc and so doesn't want to spin.......have you tried a normal DVD or CD to see if they load? :)

Well - remember the days before the first Kinect - we all used to navigate with the controller......then the dashboard was re-designed and people grumbled about that.......it will keep on evolving....

I can see a re-design of the dashboard coming in the future to be aimed for the controller but with still the voice commands being able to be used.....
