Ive thought about this quite a bit. I always thought it would be cool to have a good vampire game. not with all the magic spells and underworld type stuff. Like old universal monters/ bram stokers dracula. You turn into a vampire and have your own castle. Maybe the villagers that you bite can turn into your minions and build onto your castle and do other crap for you. And you have powers like Alucard in castlevania. Can turn into a wolf, bat, myst etc. Maybe have the point of the game be ale to slowly take over every village in transylvania while huge mobs and vampire hunters try to kill you. or werewolfs and other vampires. or even have the option to be a vampire hunter instead of a vampire. Just a game dedicated to being a bad guy. Another idea was an open world old west game. Like GTA but boom towns and saloons and stuff. you could be an outlaw or be a sheriff or marshall or something. Have shootouts and start your own outlaw gangs and rob banks and escape on horseback. Even fight off Indian raids or throw in some "good, the bad, and the ugly" civil war like missions. That would be sweet if it had the right style. My last idea was kindof already touched upon by someone early. Some kindof epic war game. Im so tired of the one man army thing. Sometimes its fun just to take part in battles instead of them revolving around you. Ive always thought it would be sweet to have a revolutionary war game. 3rd person, with huge amounts of npc's on screen. Have bayonett charges and huge battles with cannfire exploding all around. Think of the battles in the "patriot" movie. Even having sneak attacks in forrested areas from militia, and taking part in sea battles. Would be epic..

Ive thought about it some more and realized that the overall environment makes a big difference for me. I dont like to feel crowded or limited in most games. Unless it is so good that you are content following along the set path example; god of war, call of duty series, even gears of war and older mario games. Games like Oblivion, fable, mass effect, GTA, shadow of the collossus, far cry 2 where you get to actually go out and explore this new world outside of your missions are on the other side. After awhile you cant help but get pulled into that world since you have the feeling of freedom to explore. I can even remember being blown away by pilotwings 64. Probably too boring for some people..but I still can remember back when that and MArio 64 first hit the scene. I was blown away by the freedom I finally felt from a videogame letting you go where you wanted and do what you wanted in a larger and more active world. Hell in mass effect you have whole planets to go to. Who knows how much more freedom and depth will be in future games when they all have more size and better grpaphics to work with?? Crazy..

So yeah , what makes a game epic? When i think back I can remember those few games that even 20 years later I still think are good. But what makes them that way? Graphics, size/scope, story, fun, length, difficulty, music, multiplayer? Back in the cartridge days I always thought out of this world, and Zelda: Link to the past would never be surpassed in creativity and design. But now look what we have. Shadow of the collossus, Zelda: Ocarina of time, Metal Gear Solid, God of War, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Fallout 3, etc. Some games now are more of an experience than a pass-time. I guess thats what makes an epic game to me, those games where even 10-20 years later you can still talk to people that played them and be like " yeah man I remember how cool that was! Remember when this and this happened?" Like you were really there or something lol. Of course everyone will have their own preferances..guess thats the beauty of choice.

Im pleasantly surprised so many people are being honest about this game. As for me, I bought the first game and played through it ONCE and never touched it again. It was a good game dont get me wrong. I just realized how overhyped it was once I experienced it myself. To each their own. may eventually rent the second gears of war but definately wont buy. Im the same way with halo games. Never got what the hype was all about. Tried the 2nd and 3rd one and didnt care for it really. Gears definately has good graphics and some cool ideas, just not my cup of tea i guess.
