Not much at all any more. I used to be pretty into MP FPS back in the day and loved lan tournaments, but now I'm old and tired and just want to have fun at the end of a shit work week. I don't shy away from a challenge, but I'd rather play SP and I'd rather not get too frustrated

yeah but there's way more out there than just fps, I stopped like playign fps games back in 2011 with black ops 1, I did play paladins (overwatch clone) a couple years back for a couple of weeks but even that is not as brutal as a standard fps game.

and the other games I play mostly (world of tanks, world of warships, magic , fight night champion) are nowhere near the focus you need in a shooter.

I also play fifa ultimate team though, and while that is defenitely intense, I get a lot of matches where I can rely on the tactics I did in management.

I don’t want to be a sweat, it’s not enjoyable for me. Can I compete (not professionally) in most games? Absolutely! But that’s not why I enjoy games. I play to have fun and being skilled is not what equates to fun for me.

not all competive multiplayers are sweaty so to speak, as that you have to play like your life depends on it.

Some games are quite tactical, like when I play fight night champion, some of these matches can take a halfhour and it really isn't all about reflexes, it can be a bit of chess game, but with more action.

A game like world of warships or magic is even more laid back.

Whenever I'm on this forum I never really see any posts about skills, as in skills in game. It's mostly about presentation and storytelling. Never how good a game deals with multiplayer competition.

and I wouldn't really call it that mainstream either, I mean to be skillfull in highly competetive games, it requires some commitment.

I mean I'm 43 years old and I'm still competing at a pretty high level, of course it needs to be a game that caters my strengths, and at my age that isn't reflexes, so in a standard shooter like cod I'm not that good at anymore.

I wonder is it because you don't know about these games or is because most of you are playstationofied.

Forum gamers in general are out of touch. This has always been a theme. Some on here thought that GTA was the highest grossing game in 2018 and that it's the best selling game of all time, which is false.

@zerothehero: Lotta cows in SW. I don't think the ratio of cows/lems/sheep is equal anymore - cows make up the biggest clique in SW.

A lot of people need justification and reassurance they bought in to the right platform.

If the roles were reversed, would lems be gracious? I doubt it.

Cows dominate forums, which skews perception. They think that people really buy into Sony exclusives like that. Best case scenario for them, the PlayStation buyers might each like one Sony exclusive and use that as a reason to buy it over the Xbox. "I'm mostly going to be playing Fifa and Call of Duty, but God of War looks decent. Screw it, I'll buy the PlayStation." Another likely scenario is that PlayStation is being bought on brand recognition in European countries.

Well with gta online, at certain points in time they even beat fifa , even if you count micro transactions. It already sold 145 million copies as well, it's way up there and probably only beat by tetris.

as for the cows, it's only normal we get such a fanbase, the ps4 is the most popular console by far, during the x360 era there was way more competition, even from the wii, and before that nintendo was still a household name for consoles that supported multiplats as well.

A lot of people may have gotten a playstation now, they may have aquired a taste for those moviegames. It's also the reason why I think xbox didn't have such a good e3, a good E3 yes from a cows point of view, that's why you get the damage control.

But from a lem point of view like myself, yeah forza looks great, but xbox is more of a brogamer station, with more emphasis on multiplayer games, this while this e3 was more single player oriented.

System Wars is just as out of touch as the companies they criticize.

that's also why I think this is a very good comment, system wars has always a been a bit out of touch, I mean you get hardcore gamers here mostly, so you will get a lot of support here for things that aren't mainstream, which is a good thing for the gamer that wants something more.

and in the past you certainly had that will from the devs, since those 'alternative' games so to speak sometimes turn up to be big hits.

But with every gen passing that is less and less the case. We are now at call of duty number 17, and get ready for the truckload of remasters with rtx support this gen.

absolutely.. even more so actually because if you have a gaming PC, you really don't need an Xbox console..

not sure why we are stating the obvious though.. i'm just curious as to why @joshrmeyer would think otherwise..

you really are oblivious to the fact that most people that play consoles, don't feel like playing on a pc, and it's more than people using their pc for work.

console is one platform where everything is interconnected and competely controller operated

A pc is so many different platforms, mouse operated, and interconnection is either not available or not as user friendly.

lol.. this guy thinks i don't believe in console gamers.. 😂😅🤣

because that's what you said, and you also gave me that impression in our discussion about E3.

As my PC gets older, I've been thinking about this more and more. Here are the pros/cons the way I see it:

Xbox Series X

  • XSX's $500 is a steal! There might be a holiday bundle to make the pot sweeter.
  • Xbox 1st party games should be well optimized for the system.
  • Forward compatibility is nice even though the chance of me using it is low lol.
  • Can get physical games!

PC

  • Obviously you can get better hardware, but at a higher price.
  • Access to more games including old Sony games 😄
  • Don't have to pay for online multiplayer, but cheating is a recurring concern.
  • All digital, but can often get a discount.

My PC is 5.5 years old now (using GPU 980TI) so I would need to upgrade a bunch of things. The XSX looks good from a price standpoint, but adding the Live service complicates things.

What say you, SW? Have you considered between the two or always knew what you wanted?

I now have a pc with a gtx 1070 and still an original xboxone. I don't have a playstation, I might get a ps5 if the psvr 2 is something.

AT the moment I'm just waiting for the gpu prices to drop to get a better gpu for skyrim vr. I might get a series x if my old x1 breaks down or doesn't run the games I want anymore

why would anyone play mulitplats on a PS5 over a gaming PC?..

Same can be said about an Xbox. Well under normal circumstances anyway. PC GPUs are so hard to come by, I’ve been telling people to just get an Xbox Series X for now. (If they can even find one of those). Luckily this news dropped today.

@commander: so we're still living in "what if" land?.. it's already been well documented where things went wrong in the past, we're talking about right now..

and right now, the PS5 is hot off the heels of a PS4 generation that completely dominated the traditional console scene.. and even worse, it was a generation in which digital libraries finally started to be a primary means of game distribution so many people already feel "locked in" the PlayStation ecosystem..

so again, what do you propose Xbox does to win a head-to-head "console war" at this point?.. your examples don't carry any weight in the real world circumstances that exist today so we can either keep beating a dead horse or we can all collectively come to the realization that Sony already won the console wars with the PS4 and both Nintendo and Microsoft are best served to find alternate ways to be successful in this business..

for Nintendo is a hybrid handheld/console.. For Microsoft it's a gaming platform that exists everywhere Game Pass is available..

any other realistic suggestions that aren't "go back to what worked with the 360" (which ultimately didn't work)?..

The legacy is not what if, even with the current numbers it was able to push sony off the throne for a long time and came in close second at the end because of change of management. That's not a small feat if you consider the success of the ps1 and ps2.

The most succesfull formula for games at this time is the progression system, you can see it in all the big multiplayer games, fifa, cod, battlefield and it is successfull.

Wargaming has been using this progression system from the beginning. In 2013 they had 60 million players withworld of tanks, that is before the xboxone and ps4 release. It is one of the most successfull games of last gen.

multiplayer rpg's have become increasingly more succesfull because of the same reason, look at the souls series.

The xbox success comes from teh x360, and it was successfull because of the social platform, multiplayer isn't playstation's core business, if you look at all their exclusives, many of them are single player, it is their turf, so that's why I'm frustrated xbox tries to beat them at their own game.

I have not grown to love the xbox system because of the single player games, it was because of the multiplayer games and the social platform with the party chat it was on.

It is not such big endavour to look at other multiplayer genres and try to implement the progression system into this, and the first to look at would be defenitely the fighting games and the card games. But anything is up for grabs in this regard, there are many multiplayer genres out there that have not been adapted to this formula.

and yeah obviously sony already won the gen with the ps4, that's a lost cause, the ps5 is already out. For me it's also not about winning at this time, I would just want more content that caters the fans, I doubt many fans are as happy with the E3 show as many try to portray it here, me and my xbox friends surely aren't.

You are running on speculation and a pretty wild one.

things being cheaper isn't much of a speculation, if you got two shops in the city and one is cheaper than the other for the same product, word will get around.

It's only because some of you people live here in some sort bubble , where real world things like money don't matter, that you don't know about it.
