Sorry guys, I should've clarified a little. They need it for the Windows that is already on there in order to run an older program that's not compatible with Vista/7. This is a small company, so there's not really available copies of Windows on hand, especially XP. Like I said, I don't absolutely have to uninstall Ubuntu since it boots into Windows first now, just that if there's a way to do it without any Windows disks it'd be nice to give it back like new.

So I've been using a older laptop for about three years that my company had provided me, but now they need it back for various reasons. I'm definitely not complaining though, since I got to pick out a new one myself! I'm restoring everything to default, which also means I need to uninstall Ubuntu which currently dual boots alongside Windows XP (Running XP is why they need it back. I tried to make them aware of their fallacies on this, but again, not complaining..)

The problem is, I can't figure out how to uninstall it without messing up my hard drive. All of the answers I've turned up seem to require a Windows recovery disk to restore the MBR, but I don't have any sort of recovery disks for Windows XP. I've reconfigured Grub through Ubuntu to boot Windows first, so at least if no solution arises, people won't flip out in confusion after they turn on the laptop. But I'd like to turn it back in the way it was given to me, so if anyone has insight, it would be much appreciated.

I believe your ability to love determines how "good" you are. Not only to love others, but also to love yourself. If you do this, then all of the aforementioned qualities become inherent.

It all depends on what he wants to be doing with it. If he simply wants a fast computer, that one is quite unnecessary, but if he's looking for a capable gaming laptop, then it's a solid machine for that price range.

Also, just from experience, if he's looking for something that he will be hauling around a lot, 17.3" means it's going to be considerably heavy. 7.05 lbs is like carrying a baby around.. But if it's going to mainly act as his home computer, then the point is irrelevant.

If you have a job, the best place to start is your co-workers. Get to know them and hangout sometimes. Branch out from there after that. Meet their friends and friends of their friends and see if you connect with any of them or share similar interests. Go out to bars with them and meet even more people. Be yourself everywhere you go and strive to meet one new person everyday.

I just had a small ineresting breakthrough. I figured since it's sat untouched for a few days now, I would give it one last try before I pronounced anything completely fried. I powered it on, and it booted as normal, came to the Windows login screen and neither the mouse or the keyboard functioned still, even after trying it in multiple ports again.

Ready to give up, I hit the power button, except curiously nothing seemed to happen. I wiggled the mouse around once more, and it was responding. I checked the keyboard, and it too was working. Getting excited over this miracle fix, I started typing in my password to login, but before I could complete it and hit enter they both died again. I powered down and booted up once more, but nothing responds again now. Right now I just have it running.

One other thing to note, I'm not sure if it means anything, but ever since this episode when everything died, when I pressed the power button, it took a good 20 seconds for me to see anything on the screen and for it to post. This very last time I powered on, it booted immediately like it should.

I sure appreciate all of the help and responses.

EDIT: I just tried it again after letting it run for about 10 mins, and all devices are responding for the most part. Every so often they will stop responding again from anywhere from 5 seconds to about a minute and start responding again..
