The only fun sports games now are the non licensed types. Like Super Mega Baseball, so much fun! Plus I know the money is not going to a bunch of entitled spoiled players from excessive licensing fees.
Reviews like this happen when you have a generation of people brought up on instant gratification and then suddenly thrown into an environment where you actually have to plan, have strategy, and work for what you get.
D3 while fun, is a joke compared to D2. The entire game is built around letting the player be lazy and careless.
I prefer a little challenge. Are some of the D2 mechanics outdated? Sure but the game is very rewarding if you put the needed time into it.
I just cannot buy into a totally unbelievable experience of a woman going around in viking times kicking grown mens buts swinging weapons that are way too heavy for her to realistically use.
Also the game engine is showing its age and looking rather unimpressive for this new generation.
Jim: Activision why are you going back to your roots?
Activision: Well Jim, our customer raised all kinds of hell and the DICE team put out Battlefield 1 which, lets be honest here, was a superior game to the tripe we created this year.
So Jim, we are jumping on the new "gravy train" and putting out probably some kind of ripoff similar to Battlefield 1.
Jim: Why don't you do something new and innovative?
Activision: Jim, don't ask stupid questions. We've never been about new and innovative and I don't think that is what our customers want from us.
We are about taking a successful concept, copying that concept, and then repeating that concept year over year with small "enhancements" to keep suckers buying the new "enhanced" version.
