They’re still making this? That’s weird. After the disaster of season 3, I thought they’d just cancel it. Are people even still interested?

I’m devastated by this. Suikoden II, in particular, is in my mind one of the greatest games ever made. For me, it actually transcended the medium. Full of heart and soul. It’s a moving experience playing that game.

It was obviously therefore sad when Murayama left Konami and had to leave his series, Suikoden, behind. Fans all around the world for more than a decade petitioned Konami to continue the series, but never dreamed that Murayama would ever be involved again.

So when Murayama assembled the old Suikoden team, started his own company from scratch, and initiated a Kickstarter for Eiyuden Chronicle, a spiritual successor to Suikoden, we were all over the moon, of course. Then for the Kickstarter to be one of the most successfully funded games in Kickstarter history, it was just beautiful. It felt poetic.

Over the last few years, we’ve watched the game take shape, and it looks exactly like we had hoped it would. The team met all of the milestones and managed to make the game even bigger than it was originally supposed to be.

Now, just two months before the game launches and all of the incredible work that Murayama and his team put in finally comes to fruition, this happens. It’s unspeakably cruel. He deserved to experience the love and admiration the game will no doubt experience from his fans.

Video games lost one of its greatest auteurs. RIP Murayama.

You knew the ‘thirst trap’ was going to be a male character because it’s reported as cute and fun rather than the usual morality policing when it’s a female character.

Does the book cover his tweets on knowing about what was happening at Blizzard but choosing not to report on it under the justification that it was mere gossip, despite the fact that he chose to do exactly that when he reported on Chris Avellone, then refused to retract his allegations even after Avellone won his case by forcing a settlement, receiving damages and a full retraction, and his false accusers personally reached out to Schreier asking him to correct his reckless reporting?

Assumedly not.

PS- before you over-eager mods remove this post, truly consider exactly how it in any way breaches any terms of service. This is a factual question about the author’s work and his credibility on a post promoting said author and his work. It is *well* within the realm of fair comment.

@chriss_m: Why is it news? Because it's information about the game which the developers shared it during a demo. Clearly, they don't feel like it adversely impacts the experience for players to know approximately what section of the original Final Fantasy this part of the remake series covers.

No, I know why it’s new. I asked why it isn’t a spoiler and then proceeded to give you a situation in which game studios put plenty of spoilers in their own press material, hence why I avoid such material and prefer spoilers not to be in headlines.

@chriss_m: I don't think it qualifies as a spoiler if the developer if announcing it at a State of Play demo. That's just news.

Why? I specifically didn’t watch the State of Play. Plenty of trailers give half the game away, including end game spoilers. I don’t expect to see them in headlines. Did anyone else report it as a headline?

Aegon’s Conquest is the single most cinematic thing Martin has written. It works better as a film.

I have done everything I can to avoid this exact information. And this website is now just putting end game spoilers in titles?

Man, I hate this site.

What a cop out. The draw system was incredibly boring, and made no sense lore wise. You would come into a new area, see new sights and new monsters.... and immediately have to sit there and draw from them all for the first 30 mins if you wanted efficient stats. It was pace killing and made leveling next to useless, even detrimental in many ways. None of the characters had any individuality and you could just swap off your junctions and have the same stats for a different character. He was desperately trying to break free from some RPG and FF gameplay tropes, and he ended up making a terrible alternative to the standard FF battle system, much like FF2 (Japanese version) and FF13 did. This is the classic "the audience doesn't understand the artform" nonsense to try to make yourself look like some kind of savant that was way ahead of your time. I love 8 but lets not pretend that was a good battle system and that much of the story doesn't need a rewrite to help explain motives and actually make some characters identities and reasonings clearer. Don't bother with a remake if you are too proud to admit the massive problems your original game has.

I hated FFXII when it came out. But a couple of years ago I played the Zodiac Edition a couple of years ago and was hugely impressed, actually. The gambit system was brilliant in many ways. The skill acquisition was very satisfying. The game in general is actually quite good - they just didn’t do enough with the story.

@jenovaschilld: I love the cast of VIII, I don’t know what you’re talking about.

I mean if they did remake it, I’d want the game greatly expanded. But I have absolutely no issue with the main cast.
