He actually quoted Sam Harris. This guy reminds me of myself when I was in high-school. :p

Yeah I saw that an HD collection was in the works. But I couldn't wait and it was only 20 bucks versus the 40+ the collection will cost. And GameStop has a no-questions-asked-return period of one week, AKA free rentals with an option to own. :P

I've been watching a lot of Robotech lately (for the first time actually!) and I'm enjoying it so far. I'm not the biggest anime fan in the world. Dragonball Z and Pokemon are the only animes I ever got into. (but who didn't?!) Robotech is really growing on me and needless to say it's given me an appetite for some robo-smashy-smashy! I never did like Armored-Core-type games. The customization seemed fun but I disliked the clunky-ness and slow pacing of the typical mech game. So I did a little research to find a fast-paced-mech-ish game, preferably one with high ratings and production values. (not Robotech: Battlecry :P)

I had heard of ZOE before, but mostly because it came with a demo for MGS2. After reading some reviews I decided on the better-received 2nd Runner. Then I read something discouraging on 2nd Runner's Wikipedia.

"Today, the game is considered a rarity. In their July 2007 issue, the Official UK PlayStation 2 Magazine included The 2nd Runner in a list of hard-to-find PS2 games, along with ten other titles."

I didn't want to order anything, or spend a lot of money. I just wanted a little something to scratch my robo-rash. So I headed out to a local pawn shop with low expectations.

When I got there, I headed straight to the video-game shelf. What did I find for only TWO AMERICAN DOLLARS?! A complete, near-mint-condition copy of...
OMEGA BOOST!!! :D:D:D
It's early to call, but I'm predicting that will be my most-valuable purchase of the year.

So I got what I wanted, a great mech game with a fast pace. But I started feeling lucky! :PI stopped by GameStop just for lulz. Sitting on top of the "Z" stack of used PS2 games was a complete copy of 2nd Runner in great condition screaming, "BUY ME!!!". So I did.

Good stuff today...

The Uncharted games, at best, are more than the sum of their parts. The first one was great. But for me, the charm wore off about half-way through the second one. The combat isn't as refined as most shooters. The platforming is strictly linear. And the "puzzles" are a complete joke. If the characters/set-pieces/scripted-sequences/overall presentation doesn't grip you, then the amount of game backing it all up might disappoint you. Increasing the difficulty helps a little. But only the combat is affected. And it doesn't do much to make the less-than-stellar shooting more satisfying. I'd say what I felt about the second game is finally catching up to the fanboys with Uncharted 3. Uncharted can't survive on gameplay alone.

Just buy it! It's a GREAT game. All PS3 owners should own ToD, or CiT, or both. You don't have to have any previous experience with RnC to play the new ones. You'll enjoy the characters and cutscenes just the same. (especially Quark! :P) Both ToD and CiT have their own vibe going for them. They're both great but if you're going to play only one I'd give the upper hand to CiT. Although when you finish that, you'll probably want more RnC and get ToD. So ultimately I'd recommend playing ToD first, then CiT!

My history is squeaky clean! Nothing to be ashamed of here... a little nerdy though.

Goo! This isn't good. Mandatory????? Whaaa???? If you think this is a step forward you have your head waaaayyyy up your own arse. Whatever your opinion on homosexuality is, you should understand that forcing this kind of curriculum on our schools is BAD BAD BAD. What next????? 1984 here we come!

EDIT: And assuming that gay history should be a priority , it should be WAAAY down on the list of things our schools need to fix. Our schools are broken as they are! Look at our graduation rates. We should focus on making progress before we start getting "progressive".
