@bussinrounds: I love MOH, RTCW and COD (the older ones). But honestly I gave Hidden and Dangerous 2 a fair shot back in the days but I didn't really enjoy it. Extra strange because I love every other 2k Czech game.

Why didn't you like it ?

it is indeed from golden age of PC FPS. but game was not golden. it was barely decent.

RTCW was golden though. released same year.

Hell yeah, RTCW was absolutely incredible and I still think fondly of that game.

In fact I was watching Where Eagles Dare yesterday and I kept getting reminded of RTCW.

Hidden & Dangerous 2 is waaay more like Where Eagles Dare than RTCW.

It's also the best WW2 shooter, has one of the best campaigns in any military shooter and it's not heavily scripted or railroaded at all.

Blows CoD, BF, MoH away, but would probably a bit much to handle for your average consoletard, as there's a lot more to it than just go forward and shoot the baddies that pop up on the screen.

https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2020/07/23/mafia-definitive-edition-classic-mode/

[Classic Mode] has all the settings dialed into what the experience was like if you’ve played the original Mafia. so that’s great for the hardcore fans to experience the game at that level with the same driving controls, the police reacting to your infractions the same way. And then we go all the way to experience the story, you can dial all that stuff back.

Theres classic mode that make it play like original Mafia.

I bet it'll change a few things like getting pulled over if you go over the speed limit, ect.. but it's not gonna do stuff like add recoil, bullet damage and re-design encounters to compensate for the more challenging gameplay that would bring.

Gameplay was never strong point of Mafia as oppose to its oscar worthy story and its 40s atmosphere. but yeah im not expecting remake to be better or even close to original.

btw, did you liked Mafia 2?

it was also great if not better than original so im expecting it to be Mafia 2 quality.

Mafia 1's combat was great. You couldn't auto-pilot the combat, like you can in popamole games. You lost a lot of health when shot and the guns had a lot of kickback to them. You can also get stun-locked from a shotgun blast, which meant you were as good as dead and a single shotgun blast from close range usually just killed you right then and there. Same thing with tommy gun bursts.

Every story-related combat encounter in Mafia 1 was intense and memorable. The encounters were usually set up incredibly well, and combat was lethal so you had to pay attention. In the fourth mission you were fighting a handful of guys at a shitty motel, and it felt great when you managed to pull it off. In the fourth mission of Mafia 2 you're gunning down policemen by the dozen, and it barely registers with you because the cover system is basically doing the fighting for you. Just pop those moles at your leisure and proceed to watch the next cutscene.

Sell the franchise to a developer that knows how to create a video game. AssCreed will never be good. This developers does not understand what's fun in a video game. Personally, i think that Arkane Studios could've made an awesome AssCreed. But nothing is changing or improving. In 2030 Ass Creed will be as shitty as it currently is, but they might evolve their drone/bird terrain scanning to a satellite.

Why does some other company even need the 'Assassins Creed' rights to make a cool game in different historical type settings like that ? So they can use their shitty characters and such ? lol

Doesn't make any sense.

@ghosts4ever: Your boy Mack's sounding a little scared about this remake and he's a massive Mafia 1 fan, as you know.

Maybe mods will fix this too ?

Original Sin/s had a great turn based combat ENGINE, but as Maroxad stated, there was a lot off about them too. The 2 main things being Larian's half ass ruelset and the crappy itemization. Then there's more subjective things like the goofy writing and childish artstyle.

Like him, I'd rather have turn based instead of rtwp, but as an overall package, I'd also go with Baldurs over Divinity.

DAO came out at a time literally NO traditional style wRPGs were coming out, (outside of the super rare indie like KoTC) so fans would basically take anything they could get at that point.

Not that it was a terrible game and the different origin stories was a cool idea, but it was far from being a proper spiritual successor to BG and not even close to being among the best EVA.
