A "Casual" friend of mine just bought a PS3 actually...even after a year of me telling him that the 360 was probably the best all-around system for casuals at this point. Simply because of the software library. Price drop and the "cool" image of the PS3 are carrying more weight than logic or game library it seems.
All of them have happened in the last month or so actually.
Wii: Super Mario Galaxy. Finally a game that shows what Wii can do.
PS3: Ratchet & Clank. Holy poop in my pants graphics, and just a buttload of fun to play.
360: Mass Effect. It's like Star Wars or Final Fantasy XII all over again for me. I absolutely love it. Bugs, Glitches, Frame-Rate Issues and Tearing and all, it's a truely awesome experience. Plus I read the book and have a lot of backstory.
Even though Fire Emblem is my favourite series...I can see why someone may score it low on a scale of 10. The review itself was terrible though.
When I saw the 9 on Assassin's Creed though...and seeing GameSpot say the PS3 version is fine...
Well I just knew this wasn't the same site I started reading more than five years ago.
Best Fire Emblem to hit our shores so far.
Score aside, the review simply wasn't well written at all. Plus lark very blatently contradicts himself ... Dude gave Disgaea PSP an 8, but knocks Fire Emblem for difficulty and graphical presentation. Seriously. If you've ever played a Fire Emblem game before...this one should be right up your alley. Protect your weak.
He also never made notes of improvements like the narrated scenes between chapters...new terrain effects, etc. GameSpot has become the new bottom-rung of professional reviews as far as credibility in my book. Again...score aside, just not a great review.
Plus they gave Assassin's Creed a 9 when they obviously didn't play the whole game. But that's a whole other can of worms...
I think that video of the dude jumping 100 feet into a bale of hay and popping out of it like it was a swimming pool caused some consternation as well.JiveT
Yeah, cause the holographic stuff on the HUD looks real too :P
It's a game, suspend belief.
Not too keen on the way the combat looks, I'll have to feel it for myself...
Other than that...I was on the fence originally because of some poor showings (like E3 this year), but it looks like Ubisoft Montreal really pulled it together and has another winner on their hands. The exploration and free running...not to mention overall presentation look (and sound) top-notch.
The real question is which version to get? PS3, or 360?
