One word: Risperidone. 0.o Risperdal dreams are...amazingly real. I'M NOT SUGGESTING YOU HUNT THE DRUG DOWN, I have a script for legit reasons, but this is one STRANGE and POWERFUL side-effect.

I wished my parents had bought me a car and helped me with an apartment. I got a hug and wave when I left home.

When you can tell they pulled out the dictionary just to find something that rhymes. You know, that out-of-place lyrical line that's ONLY there because it rhymes? What's even worse is when the syllables are off. Say you have a song that goes 2, 3, 3, 2 2, 3, 3, 2 Where 2 is a two-syllable word and 3 is a three syllable word, etc. And then... 2, 3, 3, 2 2, 3, 3, 3 That last 3 is suppose to mate with the 'two' above, and they only way they can get the timing right is speeding through the word real fast to make it fit. Maybe I'm picky, but poetry should F-L-O-W. Hell, half the skill in song writing or word smithing is making it seem natural and not forced. That being said, an awful lot of music these days seems to do just that. It's not the MUSIC today that turns me off, it's when bands seem like they half-ass a song just to get it done and out. Sure there's ALWAYS been bad music, but it seems too many people these days are trying too hard without really paying attention to Music Theory and why there's a Music Theory in the first place. /rant

http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/power/library/pa-celltips1/

This shows that the cells power hasn't even been FULLY utilized... iamthetruth55

Actually, the after spending some more time with the article, it appears that the Cell power CAN NOT be realized, because fully 100% of that article is working around functions of the Cell because they are inefficient. In other words, they're telling you how to 'skip' parts of the chip that should do something but won't, or not very well .

[QUOTE="br0kenrabbit"]The Cell can't branch for crap. 18-19 missed cycles for a wrong prediction? Holy crap! So instead of having nice, neat and compact branching code, it's gotta be done the long-way around per statement. No wonder PS3 games take so long to make.thegoldenpoo

i have no idea what you just said, seriously.

The short of it: The Cell isn't very efficient.

You seem to know your coding and processors. what i have to say to that is The developers were lazy in the beginning and didn't know what to do with the cell's complex power. Now that they have a guideline to figure it out the games will come rolling off the shelves. I'm excited for what could be at store for such a powerhouse as SONY.

It's just funny that Sony and IBM go so far out of the way to make a processor with all these little nooks and crannies that they claim will give it an edge, and then in their own white papers suggest working around these very same nooks and crannies to better performance. But then again, weren't we suppose to be using the Emotion Engine in everything from TVs, Cell Phones to Shoes by now? And wasn't 'The Cell' suppose to follow suit? Yeah, not going to happen. The Cell was a good idea on paper that just doesn't work the same way in practice. Not saying it's a bad chip, it's just not performing as it was hyped to, and it's 'special architecture' in some cases, as above, seems to work against it.

Avoid PPE pre-accesses to large data sets, so that most SPE-initiated data transfers come from system memory, instead of the PPE's L2 cache. So they're suggesting avoiding the L2 cache. And I thought the at-speed L2 cache was a strong point. Guess not.

Why do I always see consolites using the 'PC shouldn't use X in an argument" angle? Are they that insecure? Why don't we just say that "PS3 shouldn't use Blu-Ray in arguments because we know, Blu-Ray>second coming".

It's great and all, but I get more out of a great relationship than I do great sex. But both are certainly welcome!
