[QUOTE="xaos"]Well, I use games, video and audio playback, remote play, PS1 and downloadable PSP games, RSS, image display (for reading comics) and LocationFree, and will also use internet radio, so I have to reject your premise.ultralesus
Well fair do's. I use most of those too except LocationFree. It's just my cousin's had internet radio for a while, aswell as IRC, MSN... I know its taboo to use the H word here but my point is they're ahead of Sony. If they want people to stay away from illegal firmware they need to be focusing on improving the PS1 emulation and thinking up better features and clever ways to optermize PSN.
No, they are not 'ahead of Sony'. 'brew is free. Sony's goal isn't to give psp users everything they want for free; it's to make as much as they can. I'm pretty certain Sony knows what consumers want and they could implement all those wants in another firmware, but completely satisfying these wants would be costly to Sony. It's smart business to only release a few PS1 titles at first, and then gradually build the store up. Maximizing profits is what's important to major corporations, not handing out freebees to freeloaders. They're prolonging the psp's life, and doing a good job at it. They may be losing money b/c of freeloaders, but they're net gain is still more than it would be if every firmware had those custom capabilites.
And it really doesn't matter what features and clever optimizations Sony implements, people will never actually "stay away from illegal firmware".
