I think all the comments on here about how exciting and brilliant VR is are all paid shills by an industry desperately trying to create itself out of thin air.

It hurts your neck, you look silly, you have to constantly move your head and eyes around. You are disorientated. Your house could be being robbed as you sit their like a wally. You still need a control pad. Waggle sticks are cumbersome.

There is nothing practical about VR at all.

The best possible use of it as as a kind of iMax at home.

This is the only way it will sell.

I don't have issues with my neck, and looking around should be pretty natural to you by now, no? I don't feel disoriented, and I can have a virtual camera setup to observe the house if I need to. I don't really use a control pad much, as I mostly use my Oculus Touch controllers like most Oculus users.

I have a feeling the Vita prob had a 10 year plan too originally, but best of luck to PSVR. Its actually getting support so that's promising.

exactly, if you read the article it says that layden hopes VR makes big strides and so they could release a 10.0 one day.

But it doesnt say they are making a PSVR 2.0 for PS5. All this article is is hopes and dreams.

TC has poroved nothing. VR failed to meet the hype in sales on all products vive/occolus and yes PSVR.

Not really. PSVR was meeting expectations until mid 2018. Oculus Go is currently exceeding expectations. Rift/Vive are meeting expectations.

Everyone knew this was going to be sales within the 1-5 million range, as it's just the first generation. The first console generation sold less than half a million units.

You're seeing less and less "VR is going to die" in the comments on Youtube and Twitch. In fact, VR Chat videos are immensely popular now, garnering hundreds of thousands or millions of views per video (depending on the uploader).

In 5-10 years, two statements will be proven false and the opposite will be shown.

"VR is going to die" - wrong, it's going to grow

"VR is anti-social." - wrong. Oculus Home, BigScreen Cinema, Rec Room and future similar software is going to make VR explode in popularity and bring millions of users together.

Thank you for stating this. I just had my first live DJ rave in TheWaveVR. I've been to lots of VRChat raves, but this was on a whole new level. It was visual insanity, and people had a great time, and the DJ interacted with us. Nightclubs are going to struggle to compete as the tech gets easy to use.

I keeping hearing positive new about VR when it comes to sales but have yet to see one reason to care aside from "experiences"... Is there a major developer out there actually currently making a AAA level game yet?... I would like to know because I am not going to shell out close to 1K for a system that will only provide me A-AA level of gaming experiences that just offer "okay that's cool concept" feeling from them, I am aware of Resident Evil 7 but I played the Demo and didn't enjoy it so much.

You have Resident Evil 7, Borderlands 2, Skyrim, Fallout 4, Wipeout, Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice which is technically indie but feels AAA, Elite Dangerous and a bunch of others.

Valve, Insomniac Games, and Respawn Entertainment are making a bunch of AAA VR games, and there are quite a few AA games now. Astro Bot on PSVR is especially adored.

PSVR is dead, just waiting for Sony to bury its carcass lol.

Have you actually tried it? I have yet to meet a skeptical person who doesn't get sold after trying a few minutes of it. And it's far from dead. Games are coming at a daily basis, and the library is already pretty big.

I've tried my brother's Rift. Didn't like it enough. Resolution was too low, picture wasn't very vivid and it seems pointless outside of first person games. I like relaxing in front of a TV or monitor. I got speakers because I don't want to put equipment on my head.

VR works very well for 3rd person games or really anything else. If you can, try Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice. Definitely an amazing way to experience the game.

@blueberry_bandit: Astro Bot, Firewall: Zero Hour and Tetris Effect all look kickass. Do you know if The Climb is also on PSVR, or is that just an Oculus game?

The Climb is an Oculus game so it's only on PC.

When VR is like this I'll get into it.

New? Yes. Fun? No.

I dunno, I've seen about half a dozen people say that and then they played Astro Bot and Beat Saber. They all changed their minds.

I don't really see more than a small handful waiting for the Matrix when that might not even happen in our lifetimes.

lol. I was half-ass joking about the Matrix. Truth be told I consider VR to be in its toddler-gimmick stage, and I really don't know when something will come around that looks fun to me.

I'm sure it'll be up to your expectations within 5 years. The industry is progressing at break-neck speeds.

@blueberry_bandit: Nintendo will come

Out with a consumer friendly version. Priced to own. All the big techies can keep trying to outdo eachother with the expensive prices but it will never become mainstream that way.

The biggest mainstream lure for VR is in standalone headsets, and that's exactly what Oculus have a big hand in. So I definitely see either Oculus or Apple doing this first. They have the biggest chance of making a mainstream product because they both have endless funding, both have massive teams, both have the expertise, and both have a lot to gain beyond just gaming.

Oculus are not interested in console numbers. They are interested in 1 billion users, So I'd say they are really geared towards making it go mainstream.

I'll wait for Nintendo to give us VR in a consumer friendly way where I don't necessarily have to look and feel like an azz while playing a VR video game.

To be honest, it's going to be Oculus or Apple that give us really sleek looking VR visors before Nintendo gets on it. This is extremely hard to crack technology. Only one of the largest tech companies is going to manage it, at first.

@blueberry_bandit: it's hard to compete with VR

I mean, all my friends generally prefer their FPS games in VR so it's not like I'm alone with this opinion. It's hard to go back.

From what I've seen online, many people prefer the genre in VR.
