720p & a 3 hour real-world battery life, hardly the next-generation of portable I had in mind.... but as long as the gameplay is good as the build quality doesn't resemble something from fisherprice I'd still be willing to pick one up, but as usual they're relying on member berry titles to sell the console rather than the console selling itself.
Motion sickness is what prevents me jumping in with both feet, I purchased a Gear VR which I keep using on & off, Temple Run VR is all but unplayable for me - but after 30 minutes of playing on even the most comfortable titles I feel very ... off, and it can take me a day or two to really get back to normal - for example a full 24 hours after just watching 30 minutes of videos & navigating menus I can still look at random objects and get a dizzy feeling, nothing dangerous but it's clearly not right... 48 hours I tend to feel normal again, and that's only after 30 minutes of use.
Obviously Oculus Rift is a different beast, maybe it's more comfortable but it's going to be a really fine line.. I really need to use one for awhile and see if it's real-world usable before I can justify spending that sort of money.
In the long run, I'm really curious as to how they will be able to solve these problems, we have a huge spectrum of people with different reactions that are really going to need some real world studies to.
I'd really like to see the results of a round of VR immersion therapy with someone that suffers from motion sickness to see if the feeling subsides overtime.
@kyelo @Megavideogamer Well, its the fastest growing economy in the G7, ahead of the US / Canada & Europe - but we pale in insignificance compared to China & India.
This seems to have all the cons of a PC/Console with none of the pros of either... Yeah using a controller, but when you go online and play battlefield vs a mouse/keyboard you'll suddenly realize you should have just bought a console in the first place.
And anyone who says "You can just plugin a mouse/keyboard!" - we're not sitting at a desk here, we're sitting on the sofa playing.... I've tried a few times & have never been able to get a mouse/keyboard set up to be gaming-grade comfortable or look tidy while sitting on the sofa playing games.
@barrybarryk Why would it need to calculate the physics of the fallout frame-by-frame ? I see no reason why it can't "package" the physics to the console then the console knows what it's doing for the next few seconds before another package comes in...... and as it'll be simple question/answer communications with no actual graphics being streamed I would of thought the bandwidth requirement would be pretty small too.
Wonder what Zavvi's financial reports have been like recently, I don't trust companies that went into administration... this could just be a final push before falling over again.
Should have known from the Thursday embargo... personally my copy of Ryse shipped yesterday.
I'll play it & draw my own conclusions as reviews aren't the be all & end all... figure the game is only going to last me until my first 30-50gb download is complete anyway so it's something to do while I wait.
Would of liked a direct high resolution download, streaming really knackers the definition... what we can see looks good, but a lot of definition is blurred due to the compression.
