I'm a fan of the episode's concept Danny. It's something that I think about, and it's something that comes up in my media class fairly frequently -- the concept that media has a larger effect on you (people) than realized. However, I was a bit disappointed that this video only contained anecdotal evidence, and mainly only Andy as evidence to boot.
Hit the nail on the head with that one Danny. I teach JH, and my students have a hard time understanding why I like or don't like certain games/genres/forms of multiplayer. I'm always floored when I get a student that says: "I've only played FPS games, because that is the only kind of game that I like." Yep, you read that right. To this day, I love trying out new types of games because for so many years, so many different gaming experiences were being crafted. But like you said, that attitude of mine is likely coming from my pre 1998 experiences.
Okay, three weeks now and no new episode. I'm fine with that, but then don't have it written on this page that the show is weekly at noon. Or at least let us know why the break and when back.
Liked the episode Danny. Felt like a mixture of "The Point" with some "EFMS" in there. I liked that. I'm sure you have this season planned out already, but if you ever feel like doing another "history of a franchise" type episode that piggy backs on this weeks FPS nod, then my vote goes for Serious Sam. Man those games were great. That over the top speed and crazy abundance of bad guys is not really seen too much anymore.
I'm gonna go against the comment grain here and say that this episode was sub par. I watch The Point and Danny for his well written and insightful commentary. If I wanted to watch and listen to random commentary about nothing really all that exciting, I would turn on a baseball game.
