EA... give me some real bot missions instead of the shallow "training" experiences and boring horde mode. Give me the same bot experience I can have to this day on STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT 2, and I'll pick up your game. I won't even ask for campaign! But... you won't do it. I know you. I still load up BATTLEFIELD BAD COMPANY 2: VIETNAM and soak in the amazing atmosphere... BUT CAN'T PLAY THE GAME BECAUSE NO ONE IS IN THE LOBBIES AND YOU NEVER ADDED BOTS! Effectively you're making your games flashes in the pan -- cool while there's hype and players, but dead soon after. Trumpeting that a game has a long tail by being alive one year after release? Seriously? In a few years I expect you to say "Our game will have a long tail... for a whole two months!" Sheesh.
Hyperbole from the suits. Reality is the Xbox One isn't really gaining any ground on the competition, and the window for the console to become a contender is closing fast if it hasn't already. Even with a relatively dry year that MS could have potentially exploited, Sony still managed to have a first party GOTY contender in BLOODBORNE, get more press for the forthcoming UNCHARTED than a released TOMB RAIDER, get close with COD, and bundle with STAR WARS. Any chance MS had was 2015, and they effectively blew it. Yes, they have a few interesting titles coming next year, but Sony actually seems to have more -- and more varied, interesting titles. Two years after launch, I'm finally starting to see friends my age (40's) getting new consoles, and they're almost all getting PS4's. This is a stark contrast when last gen most had Xbox's. Sorry MS, ya dun mucked it up.
I was somewhat underwhelmed by the visuals shown (except for the foliage... that was crazy), but the gameplay was absolutely amazing. I clicked the video not expecting anything and was completely blown away by the gameplay and mechanics. I hope the story is good. If it's simply the level of U3 I'll be happy. When I played the latest TR I loved the mechanics but was bored with the story and completely underwhelmed by the anticlimactic ending. Guess we'll see how things shake out.
Must buy. The YAKUZA games are some of the absolute best crime games around. I only wish SEGA would release the PS2 games in an HD set. Those were amazing too.
Used to really like Insomniac... but this game looks terrible. Almost everything about SO seems to actively repulse me -- color palette, tone, story, mechanics... I keep hearing journos talk about how great it is, but each video makes me like it less and less. Oh well...
