is there a paticular way I might go about cleaning the AS5 from between the pins? I am thinking Q-tips but I worry about bending a pin or 2...

So i was getting ready to transfer my fx8350 to a new mobo and I got in a rush and didnt clean the AS5 off before picking up the cpu... Now i have AS5 between a couple pins and I was wondering if it is even possible to save this processor.

I have not powered on the system or done anything with the cpu since noticing the thermal compound in the pins. It currently sits in the mobo off to the side awaiting to know if its a lost cause or not.

Anyone with some info(hopefully good news) would be awesome.

I read somewhere that when you OC... sometimes the voltage needed to maintain that OC increases over time... Now since it hasnt been all that long I would guess that the higher clock may have degraded your cpu slightly so you need a higher voltage to get the lower clock stable again... I am fairly new to OCing so I could be wrong..

Ive used my OEM dvd twice so far... and the 2nd time it activated completely hassle free and automatically... I think MS has gotten to the point where you can install 10 times a year with an OEM disk before you have to call... I might be off on that number but for me 2 times and counting so far no issues

as many have said.. the hyper 212 or evo are very good air cooler choices... if you go with a closed loop water solution.. id go with the H80 or H100 or even the H2O 920...

Upgrade your GPU. Your RAM is fine.

Lox_Cropek

I agree with this... 6GB ramo is totally fine.. and if need be you can always upgrade it later if you find the need for it.
