[QUOTE="QuistisTrepe_"][QUOTE="CarnageHeart"]FF12 is hands down the best in the series. Only people that cling to outdated, crap conventions like 100 foot tall giants appearing out of thin air feel different. For those people, I recommend Mistwalker.CarnageHeart
Many would argue that FFXII is part of that "outdated, crap conventions like 100 foot tall giants appearing out of thin air."
Considering FF12 doesn't have random encounters, such people are only revealing their ignorance. My big problem with FF12 was the story, again, because the gameplay was nice and the ability board with the quickening was well design, but the story was lame.
The times have changed, the philosophy has changed, the personnel has changed. SE is here to stay and nothing will change that. They will continue to go in the direction that makes them the most money. The SE merge has to be the biggest bust of all time for gamers. The quality of the games has been spotty at best over the past several years.
Creativity is good and all, but creativity is also a huge risk. I long for the days of old Enix when Enix and Tri-Ace teamed up to create some of the greatest RPGs ever made. With all that, SE has at least attempted to come up with something new in the past couple years (Infinite Undiscovery, Last Remanant), even if they don't really know how as evidenced by a series of flops this gen. Seems to me like they just need to find some better game design talent.
Perhaps they can recruit people from Atlus.

Im not sure that the problem is the game design, the big problem with all the new stuff that SE have published for several years is the lack of great story. For example, in FF 7 the death of Aeris, in ffX : the end, in ffVI : the evil kesfka, where are all those great scenario?
To have a play FF14, I must confess that I only had 2 good screenplay: the end time and amid-gamemoment but nothing else.So since these games are very long the gameplay should not be a priority as far as the scenario.
In your opinion, did the merge between Squaresoft and Enix will ruin the company? If you look at the situation, Final Fantasy 10 was, one of the last masterpiece of Squaresoft. After this they merge with enix and the fall of this great franchise began. Final fantasy 12, 13 and even 14. So what do you think, did Square Enix need to be separate to give us masterpieces?
i know that an Eurpoeen magazine have proven that video game site are ''paid'' not in money but for exemple, a lot of video game industry are giving beta key, tshirt, game before they are release, promotional object to the gaming site
Did the gaming site are paid to give a good review, IGN, Gamespot ect.. because a lot of game have an excellent scrore but they are not so good(Halo Reach), what's your opinion?
