.

Do you agree?

No, SWTOR is a pretty good single player and much like what would be expected of KOTOR3. TSW has to many MMO quests, almost all Tiers are boring go grind mobs type stuff. When I play Skyrim I go dungeon crawl to kill something meaningful. When I play mass effect there is a story to the action and choices, witcher has more MMO type quests but also has a better flow. After playing through TSW, there is little of a coherent story, the main quest is no better than many MMOs and far worse than most MMOs. Then the quests while having interesting dialog have nothing to do with anything most of the time. Not just nonsequitur the quest and quest giver are at odds often but not allays. If it was built the be an RPG from day 1 then yeah would have done OK.

I haven't been following Funcom all that close, but I was under the impression Ragnar mostly design the games stories and lore, etc. Is this not true? I mean, it's not those fields that are the problem here. It's the bugs, crappy support, game play mechanics, endgame, and so forth. I don't think it's Ragnar's fault the whole company suck, or is it? It's not like he sits upon the throne ruling with an iron fist, is it? Someone else must have a say in how things work?

Nattravnen

He just stepped down from everything aside from story telling a few days ago.  He was the head guy for everything untill a few days ago.  So he did resign and transfered to a creative position.  This was discussed in the last monthy update.

He had total control of TSW so it was an Iron Fist indeed, all development communication indicated that and he was the "Lead Developer" so in total charge of the game.  The guy below him Snow was the "Lead designer" and was doing most of the technical stuff and he got layed off a few weeks ago, snow came up with some things like the skill wheel and wanted to work on PvP issues after launch.

Above him there are executives but they do business stuff, like the CEO who resigned and tried to unload all his stock.

Which are these many failed games you are referring to?

Nattravnen
Casper 5.6 gamespot score 1996, Dragonheart 1996 fire and steal, 3.4 gamespot. Jay is pretty bad but his game sold a lot of copies. Funcom just fired Snow the second in command, snow was the guy doing most of the development and communication, he came up with many of the systems but they were not well implemented. Maybe a resource issue of money and time.

You have many failed games out, indeed you are the worst developer of all time. You incompetence has cost funcom 50-60% of all jobs. The ceo his job, the worst launch of any MMO. 200,000 sales, for real?  so many players leaving because you forgot end game, a lie.

Leave you are all that is wronng in the world,  skilled employees having to leave due to incompetent bosses. Age of conan sucked but did much better than your crap game.

Funcom investor report, google "Funcom investors" came out 8/28

Expectations) 1 million + sales 400,000 subscribers

didn't get close to that.

Just laid off half the staff,

Future:  doesn't look so hot, they will have a few people work on it but it seems the TSW is switching to low priority as age of conan is doing better.

How this affects you? IDK, if you don't think TSW has enough content, needs game mechanics reworked, or an end game then don't hold your breath.

no actually i played wow since beta/launch and the content difference between TSW and WoW are about the same, TSW if not more, it already has bg;s and pvp which wow did not, only after months did they start doing bg's and instances are about the same so i dont know where you are getting your facts from, have you played TSW??????????????????Bishop-282
Yes and I also played WoW, wow had way more PvP at release. the TM/SS zerg and random world PvP at release were much better than anything TSW has. WoW also had much more space to roam. TSW is a pretty mediocre game, check out the review scores. I don't play WoW anymore, but like you did back in the day and it was an amazing game and that is why it got high review scores and has tons of players. Also, the factions were more balanced in WoW, TSW has 9 out of 10 people playing Templar which makes the PvP sad. At release WoW had better group instances by a long shot, TSW are the worst ever, much worse than any main stream MMO in the past 13 years. Aion had issues with some end bosses but was still better and Aion's PvP blows TSW's away, is why millions play Aion- it is a PvP game. There are to many good games to play today, so there is zero reason anyone should be playing TSW. The reviews rate it like an average game but as an MMO it is even worse.

[QUOTE="Vardoom"] even if the graphics were to back then's standards the gameplay elements would still trump games of that era such as Anarchy Online, Vanilla WoW, ect... TL:DR version; MMO's aren't living up to people's standards not because they're overall bad games, but because mmo fans have raised the bar too high on quality, even the bad mmo's released today have more ingenuity than the early mmo's. The reason why in 2011-2012 MMO's have been given negative review, is because the entire MMO formula and goals in the gamse have been outgrown by the players expectation. Perhaps MMO's have just reached their growth potential and they can't be improved upon no matter how many genuine content or gameplay mechanics, or graphical improvements.

You are wrong, first Vanilla WoW had more content, even though instanced PvP and raids were not in release, and much better combat so it was a better game from the core. AO was a disaster of a game so anything in the last 8 years beats that one. The issue with MMOs today is they try to be to much of a single player RPG and very little like an MMO that can be played for years. TSW didn't improve combat or game mechanics. Most of the skill wheel abilities where thrown in with very little care. There are popular modern MMOs, WoW, SWTOR, Aion, EvE. Those MMOs do combat better and often something else, PvP, or sandbox, or raiding, or in SWTOR's case just more stories. GW2 comes out in a month and will do very well, which goes against the people just hate MMOs theory.

There isn't much content, the open beta is one of 8 combat zones. This game is developed with free to play in mind, hence the cash shop and life time subscription. The demo zone of Kingsmouth is polished but at the same time it has bugs galore, I got stuck often and /stuck or portal didn't resolve the issue. The bulk of the game is quests having you kill things or pick up things just like other MMOs but because there are so few quests compared to other MMOs the developers made all quests repeatable. Anarchy Online and Age of Conan were for a lack of a better word, garbage from day 1 until today and the same guys are in charge. The developers are already selling weapon packs in TSW for $15. I agree with the OP and believe this game will do much worse than Age of Conan, witch means less support and development compared to a game that received very little support or development. My justification is because combat is dull and you spend so much time in combat and because the game is story driven so most people will plow through the story and get bored, just like SWTOR.
