The buttons on the G27 shifter are 8x buttons plus the 4-way hat and the 7x gear positions. You could use your steering wheel on your old stand and not use the shifter, so long as you didn't map any buttons in the game. How would you navigate menus etc on your old wheel? i'd prefer to have the shifter as well, so maybe you can just modify your stand to give it somewhere to mount? (eg bolt a piece of wood to mount it on.)

If i drove like i did in games IRL, i'd have twenty accidents a day and would purposely run down people, pets, signs, stacks of boxes, garbage cans, streetlights and anything else that jumped out in front of me. My cars rarely last a day in gta4.

IRL, i haven't even gotten a speeding ticket.

you can discount Test Drive unlimited 1, that's gone. TDU2 won't be far behind. Driver has a good story but is fairly brief, so that might suit, NFS for a quick blast is good too. F1 is a SIM (compared to the others) and requires a bit of time to learn the cars/tracks, etc, before you can really get a lot out of it, so maybe not that. what should you finish first? whatever you feel like playing today. no point in playing something you're not in the mood for.

unfortunately i couldn't find any reviews or play guides to tell me if this is any good. Do you have any videos that show what the game is like? if it's supposed to be realistic, why is it being driven from behind the car? (ie no cockpit view) "VDriveX works with the keyboard arrows" - no real simulator is going to use a keyboard (unless you're too cheap to buy a wheel).

essentials edition is one disk of the two disk normal version. You can buy and download the two packs from xbox addons for forza. (pre-2000 and post-2000 car packs) to upgrade it to the normal version.

The last few years there hasn't been a dedicated V8 supercars game (nfs shift and forza4 had some of the teams, but no australian tracks). The reason i've heard is because V8supercar management (VESA) wants too much money for licensing (read:greedy) because they think they are a world-class racing category like Formula One or Nascar. (now i'm wondering how many here have never even heard of it). I believe it's the same reason there was no Nascar games from 2008-2011. at this time, your best bet is to get rFactor and download the V8s category.

Delorian

the Delorean was available in Forza 4 and Driver: San Francisco. they are both authentic, which means it's as abominable as the real thing. (slow, bad handling slugbox, a pity since it's such a looker)

So? what? did they add nitrous to the Telsa electric supercar in nfs? that's pretty funny.

They've done a good sized city, which is essential for a free-roam game. car physics seems ok from what i can see. of course being an Alpha version it still has a lot of work to do, considering it has a december 2012 release date, i doubt it'll be majorly different. the graphics are on par with Midtown Madness and the roads look kinda blocky and the world is kinda sterile. They have cop cars, so hopefully they have some AI to get them to chase you.

Hopefully this is an ongoing development, rather than a out-and-out release.
